We are having a Beach day and I had originally planned on Huntington and Newport but it has been brought to my attn. from a fellow Diser about the tidepools at Laguna Beach, so would all three beaches be doable in a day and be back in time for our Medieval Dinner at 7 (I think we have to be there by 6) or do I need to cut one out? And if so which one do I cut out? Huntington didn't really have cool stuff that I could tell be we were going to eat at Slaters 50/50 but I am sure we could find someplace to eat at the other beaches and Newport had the fun zone and things like that.....any suggestions??

I think you'll have to cut one out, but I guess it depends on how fast you will move. Parking at all three locations can be time consuming. I would say since Newport and Laguna are fairly close to one another, you do those two, but I don't really think you can go wrong.

What exactly do you want to do at the beach? For our beach day, we just like to plant ourselves on the sand and relax. IMO, it's stressful to pack up all your stuff and move to another beach, try to find parking, etc.

Also, tide pooling depends on the tides. So if you want to go tide pooling, you have to plan around the tidal schedule. Look at the tidal schedule - looking for when it's a negative tide. That's the optimum time to go. Sometimes the optimum tide is not a optimal time for touring eg really early in the AM or late at night.

If I were to do both, I'd check the tide schedule, plan for that first, and then fit in the beach either before or afterwards.

Also, do not underestimate the time it takes to drive to and from the beaches. Plus, you'll probably want to come back and freshen up before dinner. It takes forever to drive anywhere in So Cal.

Laguna Beach is BEAUTIFUL. It's worth it even without the tide pools, but you probably would not be able to go to the other beaches. It is slow going getting to/from because of the one lane in each direction in/out of town.

We've been to all the beaches you've mentioned. They're all nice but for time, I'd vote Huntington. It's so close, no freeway driving required (if that matters to you) and it's just a cool place to walk around. Laguna is definitely nice but if time is a factor I'd do Huntington. You'll love it there

Not sure why you'd want to do more than one beach in a day? That seems like unnecessary hassle, not to mention cost of parking at multiple beaches? If you're looking for Tide Pools and beach fun, I'd recommend Corona Del Mar beach. They have decent tide pools, as well as a good swimming beach (although no surfing). There are ample restaurants in the area as well, although you'd need to consider which restaurants were appropriate to visit after a sandy day at the beach.
