Beaches

The problem you have is the nearest beaches such as Daytona and Cocoa both on the east coast are not (in my opinion) the nicest.

West coast beaches , such as Clearwater and St.Petes are much nicer, pure white sand.
Unfortunatley they are approx. 2 hour drive from Orlando, however personally I think they are worth the extra distance involved.

I agree with JohnnySharp2. The east coast beaches are just under an hour away, but hardly the nicest. Clearwater area on the Gulf Coast are close to two hours away. We always spend the extra time and travel to the west coast. If you check out this link http://www.americasno1beach.com/
you will see why we drive the extra mile. punn intended.
Remember, you get what you pay for. If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

We've done both. Personally, I think they are both nice. Just depends on what exactly you are hoping to get out of the beach. We live less than 1 mile from a "beach" on Lake Erie. I can tell you any Atlantic Beach is nice compared to it, so maybe that's why I think either side would do. :confused3
