We usually go on a big family vacation about once every other year, which includes about 13 of us. DH and I are arguing about what time of year to go. I don't want to take DS out of school because it's too hard for him to catch up when he gets back and there is no way he'll do any work on vacation.

I have suggested Beaches Turks & Caicos. Everyone seems to like the idea. Has anyone been there in April? Is it more expensive than other times of year? How's the weather? I do not want to go in June or July when DS is out of school because I think it will be way too stinkin' HOT. DH and I went on a cruise in early May for our honeymoon and it was 105 degrees in Grand Cayman the day we were there. Never again.

Don't know about Beaches at Turks/Caicos but we did our 25th in the Bahamas on Paradise Island, in mid-August some years back.

The heat was surprisingly tolerable if you are used to summer heat in general. We planned all our activities for morning and late afternoons and evenings and rested in midday. The water was delightful and the crowds non-existent. I would go to the Bahamas again anytime over WDW in August!
