Beaches in June-what's it like?

We'd like to spend some time at the beach in June. Is it really too hot to be there? I was thinking of going just in the AM or after dinner. Are there any shady beaches?

We were thinking about doing this in June as well and I don't want to pack a beach umbrella so I'm not sure how long we will be able to stay, I'd have to agree early or later in the day would probably be better. Linda
