I know that there are lots of fans of this great little diner out there, unfortunately, I can't be counted among them.
DH and stopped here for lunch on Friday, 11/08. We split a hamburger with onion rings and each ordered an ice cream dessert. Everything tasted wonderful, and we booth left happy and feeling comfortably full. We walked back to the Boardwalk, and headed to MGM.
A good 2 hours passed before we rode anything (ToT, and RnR), and then we went to catch the parade at 4. While waiting for the parade, I started to feel a little strange. I chalked it up to a little bit of hunger and planned to grab a snack after the parade. By the time the parade was over, about 4 hours had passed since lunch. I grabbed my husband and told him that I thought I must be getting really hungry because my stomach felt so weird. We went into a little counter service, and I sat down while he ordered. By the time Mike got to the table with the chicken fingers we were going to split, I knew I was not hungry, just all out nauseous. I walked outside for a minute, and then ran to a ladies room and became very very violently ill. I felt horrible for the other people in the bathroom because I know that when I hear someone getting sick, I become an incredible sympathy puker... sorry to those who suffer the same fate!
I got Mike and we went back to the hotel. I tried to put a stiff upper lip on it, but my wonderful hubby insisted that we go back to the hotel so that I could lay down.
I didn't get sick again, but just felt all around icky for several more hours. Mike started to feel really off once we got back to the hotel. He never wound up sick, just not well.
I have a feeling that something that we ate at Beaches and Cream was off. Most likely the hamburger was either not refigerated properly, or was a little past date. I can't imagine that anything in ice cream would cause this kind of illness. Luckily, the sick feeling passed within a few hours, so the interruption was fairly mild.
I am sure that this is the exception, and not the rule, but I wanted to make sure that I posted this experience so people know the pros and cons!
Thanks!
Erin
