Is it worth a trip for the kids?

I've heard the kitchen sink mentioned

Also does anyone know if there is a mad hatters tea party/alice themed event/restaurant?

As far as food goes it's just a typical ice cream shop, but for some reason the beachy atmosphere makes it worth the trip.

Never tried the kitchen sink, but I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Burgers/onion rings are good. No way Jose or Mud Slide excellent sundaes. The Kitchen Sink is much over rated and melts by the time it gets to your table.

Just got back yesterday and stayed at the Beach Club, so went to Beaches and Cream a few times.

Basically it is a typical old fashioned soda shop, bright pastel colours, a few hidden mickeys, staff dressed up in stippy dresses and large aprons.

It is bright and colourful, but really just a cafe with probably no more than 15 tables. The food is good and our daughter three, loved sitting at the counter on the high chair. We had the usual fries and stuff, but also tried the ice creams and sodas, the banana split was lovely!

Didn't have a kitchen sink, but you will need a few people to finish it. It comes in a huge stainless steel bowl (not unlike a sink, but not quite so big!) and has loads of icecream and fruit and sprinkles, mallows on it, and they say a whole can of squirty cream - we were watching them being made.

When it is bought out, the staff make a big fuss, parading around the room and announcing what it consists off, before putting it down and everyone in the room claps.

Kids will love it, but if you have a long way to get there, it probably isn't worth it. However, you could walk out of Epcot and down to the Beach Club, past a nice little beach with swings on and then around the outside of the hotel to the shop, which faces the pools. It will take around 10 mins, maybe slightly more. You can enter the hotel complex, but wouldn't be able to use the pools unless you pay. You can sit on the beach which you pass and the kids could play on the swings, which would make a nice break if Epcot is busy. I thought it was a lovely stroll. I would go to Beaches and Cream first if you do this, as you may have to wait if its busy and they give you a pager, so you could then go over to the beach.

There is lots to do around the complex, with bridges and a windmill etc., so the kids wouldn't get bored.

I think it costs $21, which we thought was a bargain, but for three of us, wasn't worth it.

They give you plates and the choice is either to all delve in, or put it onto your plates to eat. They didn't seem to melt and were delivered straight to the table as soon as made.

Hope you have a good time.

Kate

(clue to hidden Mickeys - around the border)!

P.S. They also do take out. - not kitchen sink. You can only sit outside with take out, which is a shame as it would be nice to be served outside.

Hi
There is the Wonderland Tea party at the Grand Floridian. My DGD (4) and my 2 nieces (4) and (9) went last year. I forget how much it costs, but Alice is there and so is the Mad Hatter. The kids get to decorate a cupcake before they have their party. They had chicken nuggests, pb & J sandwiches and I think apple juice in the teapots. Then they play games. The parents don't get to stay. They gave us a beeper and the whole thing takes about an hour, (I think). (I can't remember). They had a good time!!!

We usually go there on our MGM day. You can take the boat from MGM to Beach Club. It makes for a nice break since we tend to stay at MGM from opening to closing in order to get everything done in one day. The only problem is figuring when to go because of all the times with MGM shows.

Anyway, the No Way Jose is my favorite sundae!! When my third is old enough to remember it, we'll try the Kitchen Sink. When we were there in October, we saw one for the first time. It looked very fun, but not all that delicious!:rotfl:

My kids saw a photo of the Kitchen Sink and now....NEED....to go and have one.:lmao:

I....NEED....an excuse to go to the BC.

Can you make an ADR for B&C?

We like eating there but I don't know if I would go out of my way to eat there. We typically stay at the Boardwalk which is just on the other side of the lake from the Beach Club so it's not far. We haven't had the Kitchen Sink. The regular sundaes are huge enough! Plus the idea of all the different flavors of ice cream and toppings in one bowl just doesn't appeal to me. But to each their own!

I do not think you can make ADR's to eat here but if you're on the Dining Plan, you do have to use TS credits. It's not counter service (which may seem obvious to some but the casual atmosphere sometimes throws people and they don't realize this).

hth!

You MUST order the kitchen sink! It is so much fun! My husband got sick on our last trip, so one day the kids and I just bummed around looking a the different resorts. I had heard about the kitchen sink on here, so we decided to try it! It was good, and I thought worth it, for the four of us. What we didn't eat, we put in a cup and took back to our room (which had a freezer).

Here's a picture:

We went in 2003 and 2005 and I'll tell you they have the best chocolate milkshakes ever! Our kids loved it and so did we. I'd return again in a second.

I think you should go to Beaches and Cream. We always love it! We tried the Kitchen Sink, and it was so much fun trying to eat it. We didn't finish it all, but my girls got a kick out of it! My youngest daughter who was only 1 and a 1/2 at the time could not take her eyes off it!

Cute pictures, I love the baby's eyes! We always stay at the Beach Club, so we go there once a trip usually, sometimes just for take-out ice cream. We were in Orlando the day of my daughter's birthday and we went to the princess lunch in Norway at Epcot. I told them it was her birthday and she was wearing a pin and she didn't get any extra attention at all. Most of the princesses didn't notice, and those who did told her "happy birthday" quickly and moved on. It was very busy. For dinner we went to Beaches and Cream and they made such a fuss over her. They dimmed the lights, had everyone there sing to her and then brought out a mickey sundae. She was over the moon! So, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that place.

This picture was at my son's sixth birthday. He invited a friend for a weekend Disney trip.

I had never seen a picture of it. We might just have to try it once! All the pictures are adorable, the kids expressions alone are probably worth it.

We had the kitchen sink for dinner one day. The kids thought that was awesome! It was pretty good, it had started to melt by the time we were finished, but we'd had enough anyway.

We'll definitely go to B&C again, but probably for a real meal this time. The sandwiches looked sooo good!

Hey, those people look familiar!

How adorable!! I love the look on your daughter's face!

Jacob is making a Sawyer face in the first picture! So cute!

I can't wait to go to Beaches and Cream! I've never been there, but Teresajoy said it's lots of fun. We're even making all the kids matching ice cream-themed outfits! Perhaps that's a little over-the-top. But, that's us!

Thanks everyone for the replies!

Your pictures are all so gorgeous- I am still giggling at your baby staring at it! (our youngest son will be 18 months when we travel and I can really see him being the same!)

Looks like we shall be taking a walk out there then!

I think beaches and cream is worth the visit YUM! We took the boat over which was part of the fun. The restaurant is really small and they don't take ADRs but we never waited long. I love watching other families get served the kitchen sink but would never get one for our family (not my thing). I love the no way jose with vanilla icecream instead of chocolate YUM! There food is good too and we go every trip.

They have the wonderland teaparty at the grand floridian. It is not a family thing it is for kids only. We dropped off my dd and nieces and went and had some lunch while we waited. The girls had a blast and it was definately worth the money. They were smiling ear to ear all day. :lovestruc

According to DH B&C's hamburgers are much better than the ones in the park.

We made our first trip last Thursday(MLK trip) as it was our first time staying at BCV and my 6yr old had to relive everything Samantha Brown did during the Great Hotels show, skipped the surrey bike after we saw a couple go out of control coming over the hill from Sea Breeze Point toward BC.

The boys and I had root beer floats and DH had a strawberry soda(very good).

I wouldn't make a special trip from another resort, but if I were staying at BC/YC or BW I would pop over.

We waited about 15min at 7:45Pm-8 time range to get in. It's much smaller in person that on the tv show.:rotfl2:
