Hi everyone-- questions regarding beach toys, please. I know my son will want to dig and play and be creative with all this planned island hopping beach time on our cruise.

Do they sell sand toys (bucket, shovel, traditional stuff) on the ships?

Or does anyone have specific experiences purchasing them at the dock shops in Tortola, though perhaps the shops aren't open as early as 8am when we arrive?

We'll be Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy, and Tortola is our first beach stop so I could buy them there if so. I found some collapsible buckets online that would be easier to pack but was wondering if this was overkill because it would be available or obvious once I got onboard.

(If they sell them at Castaway, that isn't helpful for this trip because it's our last stop.)

ETA: We will not have a car to shop at Cape Canaveral ahead of time, either. Taking DCL bus from MCO after staying at the Hyatt.

Thank you!

I think they sell them on deck 11, but I'm not positive. A few nights into the cruise, the DVC desk was giving out sand toys that make sand castles. Our DS was happy with those, but I didn't see them until we had already been to Tortola and St. Thomas. I'd probably bring the collapsible ones if they won't take up too much room.

We still have the very first one we bought on CC. I pack them in suitcase. Fill it with socks and stuff like that. If you don't want to take it back home with you I would go get one at dollar store and pack it the same but leave it behind at CC. They always reuse them at the cabanas. I saw one the last time that we brought ourselves because I had put DS initials on bottom. That was actually funny and we were tempted to take it back but want to see if it still there next time.

How old is your child? Our first trip we bought a big set at CC and left them behind because they didn't fit in our suitcase home. Second trip I bought dollar store ones and tucked them here and there inside the suitcases. At 7 and 2 our boys were fine with the smaller ones.

Hi OP! Last time I cruised on the Fantasy on the upper deck they had a store which sold small bath toys (they come in a case and feature characters like Princesses or Pixar). At Castaway Cay they had a large shop which sold a set that included the basic toys such as a pail, shovel, mickey molds, etc. It appeared that it would be small enough to take home with you but. of course you could always buy cheap dollar store ones and leave them behind as other posters suggested. I always use my hands to play in the sand when I was little so beach pails were never a worry but I do suggest the cute bath toys since they r fun in the pool and outside of it. Happy Sailing! :sail::fish::boat::donald:

We got some toys and packed them, it left luggage room for souvenirs. We also grabbed a few $1 store blow up rafts. They are smaller than the ones at castaway cay, thank goodness we grabbed a few extra. All the kids wanted them. Have fun!
