Personally I say no. On the boat they have tons of towels. They are tiny, but you can take as many as you need. Whenever you do excursions they are handed out as you disembark, as well as at Castaway Cay. We just take a couple of extra. I feel they take up so much room in the suitcase.
An article that was posted here said that they will be upgrading to larger towels in the future. No idea when, but they might be there when you cruise. We had no problems with the towels they provide though.
Another vote for no need to pack your own towels...they have plenty. And the beach towels that they have on the ship and on Castaway Cay to purchase are cute...and a great souviner.
I didn't pack beach towels 'cause everyone's right about the abundance of white towels on the ship. If you are doing WDW first, however, consider beach towels as one of better souvenirs to buy. Disney makes soft, thick, huge high quality beach towels that dry fast and wash well. My kids are swimmers and they love those beach towels from WDW. The first trip we got an Animal Kingdom towel. But after my kids fought over it all summer long, I made sure each got one this trip. Now we have 2 different Mission Space and Aerosmith's Rock and Roll Coaster towels.
We've used them twice since we got home and received comments on them both times. I think they are better than T-shirts!
I bought one last cruise and got the return cruisers one...I would have brought my own though if I wasn't goign to get those. I like a towel that is going to wrap around and the only thing those little towels are going to wrap around is my head!
Aren't they in the process of upgrading all their room towels to full-on bath sheets? That would be sweet.
And I think I'm going to pack my Castaway Club towel I got on the last cruise. Hang it up in the room at the Poly to remind us of what's coming up at the end of the week.
Yes...they have many, many different styles of full-size beach towels onboard...they are about $22.00 each.
They also sell double sized towels that are about $40 or so each.
Here is a link to some of the towel designs onboard....these are from a few years ago and there are many new styles to choose from.
I don't pack a towel but I ALWAYS purchase one the first night. I like to have a full-sized towel to lay on and the DCL ones don't cut it. They are fine as a pillow...but I like a towel to wrap around me when I get out of the water!!!
I took one with me and it made it very easy to watch our stuff from the water at castaway cay. I like to have a huge towel when i get out of the water. But it
if their going to upgrade it doesnt seem nesecary. I also got mine as a bon voage gift from someone at work.
