Beach Resort Orlando or Tampa Area

We are heading to Orlando next week via Tampa and were looking for a nice beach side resort for 2 days.

Any suggestions?


Also, Are there any advantages or disadvantages to Gulf side beaches vs. Ocean Side beaches?

The Tradewinds complex in St Pete Beach encompasses several hotels, some better than others. I would do a search in this forum on same. It's fairly commercial and touristy down there. For a more toned down location, but still a national brand name hotel,
you might look into the North Redington Beach Hilton. It's about half way between st pete beach and clearwater beach, gulf front.
