Beach escapes between Orlando and PA

My husband and I will be driving down to Orlando from Lancaster PA at the end of November. We plan to do a park on our last day, which is a Thursday, and then put in a couple hours of driving towards PA. My question is, does anyone know of any nice beach areas to stop at from Thursday night until Saturday morning? I think we'll need time to relax and recoup from our five day park hopping.

Try to continue your Disney Adventure by doing Disney's Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Its very nice and relaxing. We have doing it a couple of times as a stop off for out trip home. It made for a great transition. They have a beach house. There is bike rentals and trails. There is a nice italian restaurant up at the shopping center that is just a bike ride away. They do little shows on the resort that a very entertaining for the kids. They have a marina, fishing excursions, and a great pool both at the main resort area and the pool house. The main pool has a nice slide and the beach house is just a regular rectangular pool. There are board games at the beach house.

They have effeciency rooms, 1 BR, 2 BR and 3BR Grand Villas. And for November you might be able to catch a deal. We were able to catch a deal for a 1BR at $99 a night in the first part of November. We were in WDW the end of October and stayed in HH on like the 1st and 2nd of November.

Hope that helps. If you dont want to drive that far. There is always Daytona Beach. That is only about an hour or two away. I believe HH is 5 or 6. You take exit 8 in SC. Which is just a few miles after coming into SC after leaving GA.

If you are going home up the 95 you'll have the opportunity to stop at any of the following major beach area's:

Hilton Head
Myrtle Beach
Outer Banks
VA Beach

Of course being in November the further north you get the colder it's going to be (probably not quite beach weather).

You could also stop in Charelston SC for a few days for more history/touristy things to do.

Each place would have it's own ups and downs. It would be low season for all them.

I think a previous poster mentioned Charleston, SC which is a beautiful city and has great beaches...it is a 6 hour drive from Orlando(non-stop). So not sure if that is too far. If you want something only a couple hours from Orlando and not far off I-95 I would highly recommend St. Augustine Beach. If you want some R&R the beach is low key a few hotels(Holiday Inn, Hilton, Best Western) and some great restaurants. You really don't have to leave the beach. It is also still south enough that you may still be able to enjoy the ocean water at the end of November. If you still have some evergy after walking 1000 miles through the parks, lol, then downtown St. Augustine is also a historical city and a great "walking" city and has alot to offer to see.

Other great options are Tybee Island, Amelia Island, Jekyll Island...these are all around the Georgia/Florida border so the drive wouldn't be too awful after a day at a park.

I personally haven't been, but have close friends who have and loved both places. Very low key, beautiful and relaxing.... Don't think you could go wrong either way! Good Luck!!!
