Can anyone tell me how many Beach Cottages there are at Vero Beach and if they are worth the extra points to stay there? Would there be any chance getting one at the seven month window for a weekend at mid to end October?

Many thanks

Susan

I think there are 5 cottages.
The view is spectacular.
I have never stayed in one, but went to many open houses.
I think it would be worth the points.
Good luck in trying.

There are six (6) glorious Beach Cottages at the Vero Beach Resort. :cloud9:
In my opinion, yes they are worth the extra points. Of course, that depends on how many points you have to burn. I wouldn't shorten my trip by three days so I could stay in a cottage.
I'm not sure about demand for your time frame, but it's likely a slower time of year with the kids back in school.

We love the cottages! :cool1:

October is going to be busy at VB.

I called and booked 2 Garden View Inn Rooms for October 20 and 21 2005 because that is all they had left. I am waitlisted for Ocean View studio. I asked about larger units and was told none were available.

I believe there are only 9 Beach Cottages. www.allearsnet.com has great pictures, and they look worth it to me. I think it would be difficult to get one, since there are so few, but calling right at 7 months and using the waitlist may increase your chances.

I didnt think VB would be so popular in October, so I was surprised. Im just glad we were able to get something.

Many thanks for all your help. I looked on the member site and it did look really good. I do have the points without having to borrow and still have 62 left!! There are two families (four adults and three children) and we could fit into a two bed villa, but I have my heart set on a beach cottage. I hope to do three days mid way through our two week vaction to SSR in October 2006. I have not mentioned it to DH as I am not sure if he would agree. We could use the points to do a few nights in Disneyland Paris instead at another time, but are already going there this October so he may not be bothered.

Our schools are off in October in UK but was hoping it may be quite in Florida!!

I was wondering if I should just try and book it without telling him and hope he doesn't look at the confirmation and then surprise everyone when they get there (if I am lucky enough to get one). Of course if I can't get one I wont have to make a decision!!

Once again thanks for the help.

We once booked a BC in October, and did it at the 7 month mark. We stayed a Wednesday and Thursday on points. We wanted to stay on a Friday but didn't have enough points to cover it. But we were able to pay cash and get the 25% discount.

I think that GVs and BCs cost so many points that many members wouldn't even consider staying in one. So you may be surprised at what's available.

There are 6 cottages. And we have actually considered buying enough points for a week in one every summer, they are that great!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are 6 beach cottages. Unless you are considering 4th of July week... in which case I can promise you that there are no more than 5!!
Yes they are awesome and worth the points if you have them to spare.
Getting one at 7 mos will be "iffy".

My extended family went to Vero Beach the last week of last June. The cottage was totally awesome. Everyone loved it. We were right on the beach and the kids (5 - 12) never wanted to sign up for any kids activities. They spent the whole time playing on the beach and in the water.
We bought an umbrella at a nearby Walmart instead of renting one for some outrageous price. VB is terrific! Well worth the points and I called to get the cottage at 7 months out since it's not my home resort. I was put on a waiting list and about 3 weeks later, I got it. Boy, were we excited!
We'd go back again any time.

After staying in a one bedroom for two years and listening to my husband say he wanted to stay in the beach cottage, we bought VB last year and made reservations in Oct. 2004 and July was not available until the 31st.

We stayed in 1450 which is closest to the pool July 31 to August 6 this year and absolutely loved it. There is only my husband, myself and two daughters age 7 and 9. It will really be hard to go back to a one bedroom.

We are closing on another resale but we still don't have enough to stay a full week which is 529 points. We will have 500 points. We can't convince any of our friends how wonderful the beach cottages are. All they kept saying is they don't want to be in Florida during the summer. Maybe I need new friends! ;)

There are 6 beach cottages and one of them is smoking. I was told that it is difficult to book them at the 7 month window but we always go to either WDW or VB when the kids are out of school. It is very difficult for me to spend 132 pts per night for Friday and Saturday.

It is truly a breathtaking view

Interesting. We have stayed in the cottages three times, and have always been told they were all non-smoking.

We agree with you, the cottages are awesome! I wouldn't get rid of my VB points for anything! :drinking:

I believe I was told one was smoking optional but that was back when one was used as a demo so that has been years! If there was hope at the seven month window, what months would be your best bet?

Just wanted to let you know that I got a BC at the 7 month window at Vero. My dates are Sept. 30 - Oct. 7th. People said it couldn't be done but we lucked out. We did not book day by day either. I wish I could comment on the cottages but this is our 1st visit to VB. I'll post upon return for sure. Good luck.

Look forward to seeing how you enjoyed your stay. I am going to try to get the cottage and keep it as a surprise to the rest of my party so I am really keeping my fingers crossed but I have over a year to go and am already counting the days. Now I know it is possible it will just make me all the more excited.

Susan,

I'll post a review as soon as we return. Look for it the second week of October.

can I ask you how much you paid for the BC on the cash nights. We are thinking doing the same as you cash 1 night points the other.

No- none of the VB Beach Cottages are accessible. All 6 have stairs to enter the villa- all bedrooms are on the first floor and the ktichen/dining/balcony are all on the upper floor, looking out over the ocean. None have elevator access.

The resort does have the ability to provide an accessible 3BR in one of the other buildings- there is one 2BR lock-off with a connecting door to a second studio (thru the master bedroom), that will create an accessible 3BR villa, but none of the beach cottages have this possibility.

We had that 2 bedroom this summer. I was wondering why on earth they had the master connecting to another studio. Question answered. By the way this unit has a repectable ocean view, now great but nice enough to make my group happy. If I could figure out how to post pics I would post the view from this unit.
