Beach Club Villas

A 2br. unit at the BWV contains one king bed in the master bedroom, a sleeper sofa in the living room (of the "1br. side), a queen bed and a sleeper sofa in the "studio" side.

I used the sleeper in the living room for a week (with another full-size person) and found it quite comfortable, once I learned the "correct" position to be in (so the bar doesn't fall in the wrong place).

I spoke with a DVC salesperson today who believes that the BVC will start selling as early as this September!

He also believes that the point schedule will be similar to Preferred View BWV. There will be no standard view, which is unfortunate due to its popularity at BWV, and somewhat of a misnomer when you get a parking lot view! Ah, marketing!

Based on his waiting list, he believes they could sell out in 6 months, but of course, he is a salesperson!

I'm hoping that, based on his September prediction, that points won't be any higher than the $80-$85 range.

So, I'm thinking of waiting for BVC (based upon this and the solid advice you've all given me). I suppose if I were rational I'd lean toward OKW, which seems like the best value... but my kids have demanded, "does their pool have sand at the bottom?" .... "well, no", I tell them, "the sand is a Beach Club thing not a Disney thing". And as I've mentioned, DH and I love the location. Many of the other resorts mentioned sound wonderful too; we may do a re-sale add-on later... after we (hopefully) recover from the BCV purchase!

I just spoke with a DVC salesperson who believes BCV will be available this September.

He thinks the point schedule will be the same as BWV Preferred View, and there will be no standard view, which is unfortunate since it is so popular at BWV and somewhat of a misnomer if you get a parking lot view (ah marketing)

He also thinks BCV may sell out in 6 months (based on the size of his waiting list), but then I take this with a grain of salt since he is a salesperson!

So, based on this September prediction, I am hoping that points will be no higher than $80-$85.

Based on these predictions, as well as all of the sage advice you kind folk have given me, we are thinking of holding out for BCV. (Although OKW sounds like the best value, my kids ask, "Does their pool have sand at the bottom?". "No", I explain, "that's a BC thing not a Disney thing." And, as I've mentioned, DH and I like the location) Anyway, maybe when DH and I recover financially from our BCV purchase, perhaps we can do a re-sale add-on to one of the other lovely resorts you've all raved about!

Thanks for your help!

Ha Ha, I just thought about sand in the pool! OKW has sand in the main pool when the kids playing in that wonderful sand lot put too much there! :D If your kids are the age for playgrounds and sand piles, OKW has some good ones. The big drawback for older kids is the lack of a water slide. We always prefer the quiet pools at OKW. Each has a playground with sand and a smaller pool and hot tub.

If half of you are sleeping on the floor then your room is overbooked and persons here do not take kindly to that sort of thing!!

Our guide said September 2001.

And by the way, our room was NOT overbooked. BC said our room slept 6 and there were only 5 of us. My situation, which I clearly stated, is that my children do not want to sleep together, and that is what BC expected when they said 6. I wasn't criticizing BC I just realize that I need a different situation

As a new person to these boards, I really don't appreciate the unwarranted criticism! You should really read more carefully before saying that "people around here don't appreciate that kind of thing". We did nothing wrong!

I really wouldn't pay two thoughts to the criticism, you were CLEARLY within Disney's own regulations!!! That's all that matters... And let me tell you, the rules state that four can sleep in a 1 bedroom... well we have 4, and 2 of them happen to sleep on the floor because they WANT to.. and they are really too young for the sleeper sofa & too old for a crib... So I'd hazard a guess & say a lot of us have members of our families sleeping on the floor for one reason or another....

They didn't start selling VWL until they had the permits for it. Does that mean that they are almost done with construction and ready for permits already?

DxL 4/00
DVC 4/00-BWV
VB,VWL (add ons)
BWV 9/00, 12/01
VB 9/00, 5/01
OKW 1/01
DCL 1/01, 12/01-1/02 New Years Cruise

The more I read these boards the more I realize that many things are not 100% clear.

I was just down there last week and they are certainly not almost done, although they do seem to be far along and ahead of schedule.

Also, what my guide told me is not cast in stone, although he seemed very confident of his predictions (and if he didn't think it was true, I don't know what incentive he'd have to tell me to wait)

My guide indicated that this would be a pre-sale. He said that they have not done this before, but the demand for BCV is so high and they think that VWL will sell out before BCV construction is done, so they must do a pre-sale. My guess is as good as yours as to whether this is just a strong opinion of his (he's been working there for 13 years, he says) or fact.

Well, technically they DID presell VWL.. They started letting people buy in mid-December, and they didn't open the doors until mid-January... granted it is only for 1 month, but still it was a pre-sell wasn't it? They did the Pre-sell because both OKW & BWV's sold out... As a matter of fact, aren't they still getting permits in order for all the various states like New York?
The thing with Wilderness, they did the paperwork in advance payment exchange hands before that January 14th date? That I'm not sure about.... I think it would be illegal if it had, because the units didn't have the permits to be actually sold... I think they'll probably follow along the same lines with Beach Club... But, then again I could be completely backwards myself in my thinking, definitely wouldn't be the first time!!!

All I can say is, I'm glad I own at BW & OKW, and I wish I'd added more at BW :-( Figured that out a little too late!!!

I think it all boils down to the fact that they need something to sell: the sales force will not sit idle; this is what they do for a living.

So, if one resort sells out before the next one is completed, they will pre-sell the one in progress.

I'm reminded of the old saying:
"How can you tell when a salesperson is lying?"
"He's moving his lips."

(No offense to salespeople, I'm married to one!)

quote:
They started letting people buy in mid-December, and they didn't open the doors until mid-January... [/quote]

They began sales sooner than announced but did not complete the paperwork until they had all their Florida clearances. The "doors" actually opened in mid-November, well before any DVC sales were done.

I keep telling people that FL law DOES NOT require completion to sell. The Marriott at Singer Island was selling before they even laid any cement. I don't think they can complete the closing until it's completed and ready to occupy (at least the phase that's in question) but they sure get contracts and take initial ernest moneys a year or more in advance.

invalid_character - I think what nuthut was referring to are the people who post saying something like: We've booked a 1-br. at BWV for the 4 of us, but now little Bobby & Susie want to bring their best friends and Granny wants to come along too. Do you think there will be any problems fitting all 7 of us in there?? Believe me THIS would get a reaction from people.

Please excuse me nuthut if this isn't what you wre talking about.

When they started selling VWL in November, it was at the higher price - $72 even though the other resorts were still selling at $67 until January (the official opening date of VWL). So if they start pre-selling BCV early, it doesn't mean it will be at the current DVC price at that time.
