Hi everyone

For our next trip we have a 10 day break in the middle that we can't decide on a resort for.

At face value we can stay at BCV/BWV for the same price as CSR with our wedding discount.

BUT if we have 10 nights at CSR we will meet our wedding room night minimum and get one of our nights in the Floridian free ($800 saving)

In your opinions is BCV/BWV $800 better than CSR?

I think CSR looks really ovely, but I realise it's buses everywhere.

Not stayed at either yet, but the option of 10 nights busses or 10 nights walking out to world showcase or the boardwalk i know which i would choose!

I would go for BC or BW, I think the location and the resort is worth the extra $800. I don't mind the buses though.

If they're the same price I'd personally say choosing BCV is a no brainer!
More space, better location, better pool, easier access to so many restaurants :)

:goodvibes

EDIT - well i obviously didn't read it right :lmao:
For all the reasons above I'd still say BCV would be better value for the extra money tho :)

if the price is the same, no brainer - BCV...
there is absolutely no comparison between BCV and coronado springs...
one is a deluxe, the other definitely not...

Agree, go for BWV or BCV any day over Coronado - not knocking a Moderate in any way but with a location meaning you can walk to not 1, but 2 parks plus all the fab places to eat and drink in the BW area there really is no contest :) Plus, as you mentioned it's the villa's for both it means you get some basic facilities in the room too like a fridge, toaster, microwave etc - all little extras that are really handy to have!

Whether you go for BCV or BWV I think depends on if you want a quiet tucked away feeling or a buzzy one as the BCV, despite being part of the BC are setaway from the main building at the back - you definitely feel 'out of it' there and if you're pool people you also get Stormalong Bay to play with. BWV feels much more involved and the atmosphere is bustling and lively.

Thanks a lot everyone. :)

I think we will go for BCV or BWV (whichever has availibilty at 7 months!) if they are both booked up then it'll be Coronado or Wilderness Lodge.

It is sad booking a villa though as I love the anticipation of maybe getting an upgrade when it's a normal room, especially as we'll have 'honeymoon' on our reservation.

what sort of upgrade would you expect at CS? - it's a moderate...there really isn't much there that they can give you..

however, now you've added WL to the equation....wilderness lodge is a deluxe resort (CS is a moderate)..
WL is my second favorite of the disney resorts (number one being the grand floridian)..

so if you're choosing between coronado springs and the wilderness lodge, again it's a major no brainer - Wilderness Lodge...
there is simply no comparison between WL and CS...
i'm not sure what you think CS has, but it's a moderate....
no moderate is ever going to hold a candle to any of the deluxe resorts....

at the WL, you have the possibility of an upgrade.....they don't have many suites there, but they do have concierge rooms...

I meant at BC/BWI compared toBCV/BWV, I'm well aware of what CSR is like. I just think it looks very pretty, and it's part of our wedding resort room block, so as I said staying there would make our GF stay free.

sorry, i misunderstood....

ok, i went back to re-read your original post...

yes, i do think that the beach club villas are $800 better than coronado springs (which i hate by the way, i should have said that at the outset)...

i don't like the boardwalk villas, but i do like the beach club villas, so if your only choice was the boardwalk, i'd have more of a dilemma...

i should back up and say that i'm not a fan of coronado springs...
of the moderates, the only one that i love is POR....i really love it there...
so i would have a harder choice if you were considering POR...
since i dislike coronado springs, it's hard for me to even consider it...

how does WL enter the picture? can you pick WL instead of coronado springs and still get a night at the GF for free?

Hmm, no but I can get WL and AKL for much cheaper than the other deluxes (they are anyway and add in the wedding discount and it's not much more than CSR/DVC stays)

We're staying at AKL already, so rather than go back there we could try WL.

Too many choices!!!!

Fingers crossed BCV is available and none of this drama matters. :rotfl:

AKL and WL are often much cheaper than the other deluxes...
i think because they have smaller rooms and they're not right next to a park (as are the MK and Epcot deluxe resorts)..

but i think they're both lovely and much better value for money than the other deluxes (which cost small fortunes)...

i'll keep my fingers crossed for you getting the BCV.....they're very nice and the location is wonderful...(and i love stormalong bay!!)...

and if you can't get it, go for WL....i love taking the boat from WL to the Magic kingdom....so very very relaxing!!!

Not to take this off topic but as Disney own all the resorts (bar swan/dolphin of course) this is not a limitation. It's very, very rare, but I've definitely heard of them offering an upgrade to a different resort.

That's a big ask though! Haha.

Who knows, I might have a huge change of heart and want to stay at the Poly or something and throw it all out of whack.

This is the trouble with Disney giving me so many choices, and me planning so far ahead!

I know, I can't imagine how many zillion stars need to align for it to actually happen, LOL.

Some tough choices for sure but boy, are they nice ones :)

Actually, there is the possibility of being upgraded to one of their Club Level rooms. These rooms are located in Cabana 9b and they're usually reserved for convention guests. However, I'm aware of quite a few people who have been upgraded when celebrating special occasions. There are photos and more info over on the resorts board. :thumbsup2

thanks for pointing that out!! I wasn't aware of it.
I see that happened last year, i guess driven by the convention guests who were disappointed by what was available there (what halfway decent convention hotel doesn't have a club level???)

so then you're right, there would be a chance of being upgraded to the club level...
although i suppose this would depend on whether there is a convention going on when you're there...

that's what i don't like about that resort....or any of them for that matter, when they have a convention going on..

i stayed at the GF once when there was a convention there - it was beyond annoying..

the attendees were only paying $125/night for their rooms - well...their companies were paying it....
and here we were paying a king's ransom for the same...

and of course, given that it was a convention, there were a lot of them and they were very loud all day long...and that was before they got drunk at night..

really not a pleasant experience....and that was at the GF....(during september, when i guess they were trying to fill the place up)..

ok...so that was off topic....but that's only happened to me once at the GF, whereas it's my understanding that happens a lot at coronado springs...

but then again, at the end of the day, you will be at WDW, so it's all good...

Yeah, I guess it's the luck of the draw.

When I stayed at CSR last year, there were several conventions going on and I didn't notice anyone being too loud. There were always a few wandering drunks when we returned from the pool at night but they were fairly low-key!! :rotfl:

As you say, you had a bad experience with the conventioneers at the GF so no hotel is exempt from bad behaviour (unfortunately).

that's certainly true - but when you're paying the ridiculously high rates at the GF, it's particularly upsetting
you're paying for a particular sort of experience that you're expecting to have and instead you find yourself in a convention hotel.....an experience you could have had for a tenth of the cost of the GF
it almost made me want to demand my money back...i didn't of course, but it did cross my mind....especially when the very LOUD conventioners were gathered around the GF "quiet" pool.....
