Beach Club questions:)

Our family favorite is the POR (alligator), but are considering a move up to the Beach Club (3 children -preteen girls). I think we need the room. We really like the pool area pics but question the food arrangements. We have enjoyed the food court atmosphere at CB PO and POR (one All-Stars). I have searched all the info and haven't found a def answer on the food court ven the CRO didn't know for sure. Thank you in advance!

There is not a food court at the Beach Club. But, you can get a quick breakfast (cereal, bagels, etc.) at Beaches and Cream. You can get a quick lunch/dinner at Beaches and Cream or out by the pool. There are several sit down restaurants within the Yacht & Beach club resort to choose from. Cape May has a great character breakfast buffet and a clambake/seafood dinner buffet. Yachtsman's Steakhouse is supposed to be very good (haven't tried this one myself).

There is no food court. The only quick service restaurant is Beaches & Cream...and it's very small. We loved the Beach Club last year but chose not to stay there this year because of the difficulty we had trying to find something to eat when we got home late from the parks. Yes the Boardwalk is close but when you've been walking around a park all day...the thought of walking to the Boardwalk or the Swan & Dolphin (which we did one night) was too much.

The other thing we disliked was that the pool area was so crowded, we could never get a chair. It would seem that with the Villas opening this year, it could be even worse (although I've been told they've added more chairs). I guess it would depend on when you're going (we went in July).

I hate to sound so negative, but just want you to be aware. I'm sure lots of other people will give you differing opinions...it is a beautiful resort (& we would consider staying there again - only this time we would know what we were "in for").

I totally agree with DisneyLisa; the Beach Club is an awesome resort - we've stayed there two times and loved everything EXCEPT the lack of a food court. Beaches and Cream is very small and often very crowded. The sit down restaurants are excellent but expensive. We ended up buying chips, cookies etc. in the gift shop and munching on them when we got back at night but that doesn't really satisfy hunger nor is it very nutricious (sp?). If the food court is really important to you, I would recommend sticking with a moderate resort and use the money you save on your room to have a few dinners at the Beach Club.

I also have to chime in here with the same feeling. I love SAB. I lovedt he resort but there was more aggrevation at trying to get some thing quick to eat than the place is worth. I guess if you go at an off time things could be different but we went during the summer and it was sooo crowded everywhere. We got lunch at the pool area duing the afternoon which was good but B&C was crowded in the AM and the PM. It was too much trouble to walk over to te Boardwalk and it is a far stroll after you have been running all day. We stayed at the Poly the last few years and Cpt. Cooks was never that bad. Maybe they will add another fast food area to the new Villas.

We stayed at the Beach Club for three nights over Easter coming from All Star Movies (where we generally stay).

I like a few things about the Beach Club but mostly they were the aspects we enjoy anyway while we are at Disney - we will often come to that area for lunch or dinner.

The quiet pool was manageable chair wise but Stormalong Bay was way too busy.

Beaches and Cream is nice for lunch but the take out window is just ice cream I believe - I could be wrong on that though - but at any rate the take out window always had a long line and a wait.

We really missed the ease of the food courts at Movies.

I am glad we tried it once but I won't feel the need to return.

We just split our stay between CBR and YC. I agree with all the comments about the food hassle at this resort and the BC. Having a food court is very easy. However, this being said I don't think any location is better on Disney then this one. The Boardwalk is so much fun at night to walk around, rent a surrey and you can get pizza, subs to go and eat at a table outside. Also, the ease you can walk in and out of Epcot is great. It's great to eat there too. MGM is a short walk or boat ride from the BC! You said you had pre-teens as we did and they loved it.

Forget Beaches and Cream - crowded and too small...We ate at Epcot, Boardwalk, Tubbies and the pool - Hurricane Hannahs - Burgers and chicken tenders...

SAB is awesome...even though crowded. We got chairs and enjoyed the pool so much. CBR was nice but we did find at night after parks we were kind of bored, but didn't feel like getting back in the car to go somewhere, so at YC we were able to feel we had some night life...even if we still were in bed by 10:00!!

With 3 pre teen girls and 2 adults? I would definetly suggest looking into Concierge. If you are only getting one room it would really be worth it! That way breakfast would be a cinch and all the other extras you get are incredible!

Why not consider renting DVC points for the Beach Club Villas. I'm paying $8 per point for 5 nights there this next Sept/Oct. Total for a 2 Bedroom Villa is 156 points ($1248) which comes out to roughly $250 per night. It comes with a full kitchen - refrigerator, micro, washer/dryer and jacuzzi tub. Sleeps 8 total. We'll easily save around $100/day in meal expenses because of the kitchen. There is a person on the rent/trade board that is selling 150 points for $8/per. I'm so thrilled to be able to get to stay in a BRAND NEW resort! Can't wait!

I would agree with the thought of seeing how much extra a concierge room would cost. The lounge at the Beach Club didn't open until around 7:00, which was a bit late for us, due to getting to the parks early, but with no early entries right now, that's not even an issue. I would say with five people, if the room was up to $100 extra a day, you would break even. You can breakfast there, grab snacks, sit in the lounge while waiting for others in your room to shower, and get water and soda to take to the parks. Just a thought.

I'm going to the Beach Club the end of August,with my husband and 3 boys,13,11,7. They eat non stop. I booked the concierge floor using the Fall Fantasy package for the about the same price it would have cost me to stay in a standard room at rack rates. Does that make sense? I had a price in mind that i wanted to spend on this trip and I felt strongly that I would need the concierge,with special, it fit my budget. For me it is well worth being on concierge just for the availability of food. I think that would be a good choice if you can afford it.
Does anyone know if the pool will be that crowded at the end of summer?

We went to the BC last August (2adults and 3 kids)Although we obviously needed sleeping for 5 we were given a room with no daybed. The rollaway they brought in for us was put in front of the balcony door so it was in the way. We also had trouble with the food thing. We did go to Beaches and Cream and the food was good but it was very crowded. We ended up switching to the Poly and felt it was a good move. We liked being on the monorail but felt that the size of the rooms made a huge difference for our family. Poly has the biggest deluxe rooms on property I believe. Don't get me wrong, BC is very pretty. We just needed more room and more quick food options. Either way, you'll have a great time!

We spent 5 nights at the BC in December. I highly reccommend doing concierge. We did, and LOVED it. I was VERY worried about the lack of a food court, and that is why we booked concierge. As previous posters stated, walking over to the Boardwalk is a hassle after a long day in the parks just for food. Every time we went to Beaches and Cream, it was packed, even at midnight one night, and we were there at a VERY slow period. Now with BCV opening, and sharing amenities, I am guessing things will be even more crowded.

That being said, the Epcot area resorts, IMHO, is the most gorgeous area of WDW. There is something so tranquil about this place.

Well, we are YC people, but I feel I have to defend the BC anyway! We have stayed at the YC the past 6 years, and this summer will be our 7th. When we first started to stay there, our DD's were about 10 and 8. We never had a problem with there not being a food court. We always got our food from Beaches and Cream, or Hurricane Hannah's, or the nook in the lobby. Once we stayed at the YC, we were hooked, and felt no need to try other resorts. When you are at the best, what's left!!

To us, the location beats out any inconvenience of not having a food court. There are so many dining options within a stone's throw from the resort, that that is probably why there isn't a food court. We were upgraded to concierge last year, and that was a wonderful perk and very convenient.

For some families, the food court option is a must. For us, location and convenience is more important.

Actually, the BC happens to be my favorite resort in all of WDW. I love the location and how close you are to so much stuff when you're there.

That being said, when DH and I were in WDW in January, we had lunch one day at Beaches and Cream. DH got into a conversation with one of the CMs there about the lack of dining options at the BC right now, especially with the upcoming additon of the villas. There really is no quick place to get something, unless you walk around to the BW side and do one of the take outs there, and as one poster said, sometimes you're just too tired to do that much more walking! Beaches and Cream is cute, and the food is good, but during busy times, the place must be mobbed! We generally go in off periods(no kids, so we have more flexibility)so it's not usually a problem for us, but I can see as to how it would be a big problem at certain times of the year.

But even with all that, I just think the BC location is fabulous, the hotel itself is fabulous, the pool is fabulous. The concierge suggestion might be something to look into...maybe that would solve your problem of having food available. The moderates are nice...I've stayed at all of them at least once, and some more often, but they don't compare to the BC.

I don't know about any one else, but don't you usually have snacks in your room? I always get a fridge (although it's small, it does hold snacks, pop, etc,) and our first stop is always Gooding's supermarket. I know it may not be the most nutritious thing, but how nutritious is food court food anyway? We have always stocked up on cereal, milk, pop tarts, doughnuts, etc, as well as crackers, cheese, and other junk food. This works great for us.

As I said in my previous post on the Beach Club my family loves this place too for all of the reasons posted however; is concierge really an option for most of us? I know I could never afford it and as for bringing along snacks for the room - no problem we do that all the time in fact, we do breakfast in the room every day but...don't you get sick of eating cereal and pop-tarts after a few days. Like I said, we love this place but it lacks a quick, convenient fast food joint such as Captain Cooks or Gasparilla Grill at the other deluxes. Sometimes a burger and fries after a l-o-n-g day at the parks hits the spot

I agree with you eeyore1226...that's exactly the way we feel. We bring an electric cooler with us as well but sometimes you just want to sit down & have a nice warm snack (we often had pizza when we were at ASMu...nothing fancy). Beaches & Cream would be great if it was bigger and you could find room to sit down (we pay a lot of money for deluxes and certainly don't want to be holed up in our room eating our meals all the time). The BC doesn't need the same type of food court as the Moderates or AS but it would be nice to have somewhere that had room for you to go and sit after a day in the parks.
