Beach Club Pool Questions?

We have a reservation for the Beach Club for this July. The pool is very important to us as we have a 14 year old and a 10 year old from Alaska. I have some questions about both pools.

First the quiet pool:
1. About how big is this pool?
2. How deep is this pool?
3. Does it also get crowded regularly?

Then the Stormalong Bay:
1. How deep is the lazy river section?
2. I have read that you have to rent the innertubes for this, how much are they and do you rent them each time you arrive at the pool?
3. Which section has the "active pool"? Is it closer to the Beach Club or the Yacht Club?
4. Are there any open slides besides the kiddie one?
5. Since it is so huge, I would have a hard time keeping my eyes on both kids. Are their enough lifeguard to keep an eye on everyone?
6. Since you have to have your ID to get in, is it fairly safe just leaving your room key at your chair with all your stuff?

We stayed at the Yacht Club last August. We absolutely loved Stormalong Bay! Best pool we've ever seen. In fact my ds (12) was still going on about it yesterday and wondering when we could go back!!

I don't know much about the quiet pools. We saw them but loved Stormalong Bay so much that we really didn't get too close to the quiet pools.

The Lazy River is larger than you would think for a "pool". It starts out relatively shallow but gets pretty deep as you wind around. I'm not sure of the exact depth but I know it was over 6 feet at one point. I'm thinking closer to 7 or 8 feet for one stretch but I could be overestimating. That area is also hard to get through depending if you are close to the sides or not. Took us a few times to figure out how to manuver through that part real well!

I also heard that you had to rent the innertubes, however, all the times that we were there, the innertubes were just floating around in the lazy river area. We just grabbed on and took off. I'm not sure if this is the norm or if we just lucked out but we never had to pay a rental fee the whole time that we were there.

There is an open kiddie slide and a partially enclosed adult slide. The slide is fantastic. I was a little concerned about it being enclosed part of the way but it was so much fun. You can see the light at the end of the enclosed part as soon as you enter the top of the slide. DS liked this slide at least as much as the body slides at Typhoon Lagoon. DH and I loved it too. There are quite a few steps and you have to exit the main pool area and walk across a large sidewalk area to get the the steps for the slide.

There are plenty of lifeguards around and they seemed very vigilent during our stay.

They did check ID's most of the times that we went to the pool. They even gave us a stamp so that they could tell that we belonged there. I think one time there was no one there to check but all the other times there was. We left our things sitting on a chair. We didn't take too much money down to the pool area with us but did take our keycard. We never had any problems with anyone disturbing our things.

The pool is right in between the Beach and Yacht Clubs. There are so many things to do in this pool you stay for hours at a time. Don't forget to check out the hot tubs too!

The lazy river section of SAB is about 8 feet deep. You may rent a tube ($10 for the day or $3 for an hour), or just swim in that area. It is not a lazy river per say like at Typhoon Lagoon. You can also rent noodles.

Yes, they do run out of tubes at certain times. If you rent a tube for the day, keep it under guard, because there have been times when my DD's left it in the pool, and someone else took it to use. Some have even taken them from our chairs!

The more active pool with the whirlpool and adult slide is closer to the BC slide, while the lazy river area and shallow beach area is closer to the YC side.

If your children are young, you really must keep a close eye on them as this pool is large! There are plenty of lifeguards, but they are guarding certain areas of the pool, not an individual child, and it is easy to wander/swim from one area to another quite quickly!

There are lockers you can rent to keep your keys, or purse in, but with our family, there is always someone sitting on the chairs, to keep an eye on our things. Everyone is pretty honest, but you can never be too safe.

SAB is a great pool experience, and I am sure you will love it!!
