Beach Club or Poly?

We are planning a trip in May and can't decide between staying at the Beach Club or the Polynesian. We have stayed at the Beach Club before and love the feel of the resort and the location. Being able to walk to Epcot for dinner is great! The Poly also has a great location on the monorail.

Any advice? Either place is fabulous so it is a great choice to have! ;)

They are both great.

BCR: Nice walk to Epcot or 12 minute walk to DHS.

Poly: Nicer theme to me. I love the Polynesian feel and atmosphere. Nice to be on monorail.

The both have great pools. Both have access to nice restaurants but Poly has Kona, Sushi Bar, 'Ohana, and I love the Tambu Lounge

I give the edge to Poly, unless you like Epcot a lot more than MK.

I've stayed at both and I prefer the Poly (but would stay at the Beach Club again!) Here is why:

The monorail - at the Poly, I can take the monorail directly to MK or walk to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot. Since these are my two favorite resorts, this works well for me.

The pool - My kids are still small enough that I want my eye on them in the pool (even though they are good swimmers). At the main pool, I can sit in one spot and see them anywhere in the pool. And I get a view of Cindy's castle to boot! At the Beach Club, I had to constantly move with the kids to keep an eye on them and I disliked that the slide entrance was past the main walk. As my kids get older, I'll be fine with this though.

The food - BC has a very limited menu in their 'quick service' area where Poly has the yummy Capn Cooks where I can get a Mickey waffle or grown up grilled cheese or a dole whip! I also prefer all the restaurants at the Poly to the ones at BC or YC or even on the Boardwalk.

The rooms - I do not like the regular room layouts at the BC where the sink is outside the toilet/shower area. I do not want to keep my family up or have them keep me up as we all brush our teeth, dry our hair, etc. I like the Poly where the sink is in the bathroom and the noise can be contained behind a closed door.

I think if you are going to go mostly to Epcot and HS though, BC is a better choice. But if you are mostly going to MK and Epcot, Poly is a great choice.

I agree with the pp in that both resorts are wonderful. My personal preference is the Poly, but consider where you will spend most of your time. If EPCOT and DHS will be your most visited parks, then BC might be best for you. On the other hand, if the MK area is where you want to spend much of your time (especially if you have small children), then go with the Poly.

Oooh my two favorite resorts! :cloud9:

I agree with everything the PPs have said. If you will miss being in the Epcot area THAT much, go with the BC (or BWI if you want to try something new). If, however, you are open to being in the MK area this time around, I definitely think you should give the Poly a try! The rooms are bigger, great access to the monorail, wonderful MK views from the pool/beach, fantastic restaurant options, quick access to the TTC to get to Epcot... the list goes on.

I would definitely give the Poly a try! :thumbsup2

Hard question as these are our two favorite resorts :goodvibes .Either way you can't go wrong. I think you should try the Poly since you have already been to Beach Club.

I have stayed at both and prefer the Poly. It is a relaxing atmosphere, the transportation options make a huge difference, watching Wishes from the beach....fab!

I'm stuck on the Beach Club...the pool alone is the main reason to stay here. Plus, no busses to Epcot OR Hollywood Studios.
Plus, Cape May Cafe breakfast is oh-so-good.
Oh yea, and you can walk over to the Boardwalk at night.
Did I mention that the smell of the lobby is just amazing?

I would go with the Polynesian because I like their theme more, Resort Monorail access, walkway to the Transportation & Ticket Center and their rooms are a lot bigger.

Having stayed at both, we like both resorts, but we prefer the Poly over the BC. We love the tropical theme, being just a monorail ride away from MK, and having the beach for watching the fireworks. Plus we love Captain Cooks for quick CS meals. We would stay at the BC again as we loved being able to walk to Epcot and DHS, but the one thing the BC lacks is a variety of CS options, and that's a major factor for us.

Have never been to either, but am considering both for next fall. In my research, though, I found that Poly does not have a hot tub... AT ALL....:confused3..... which is a deal-killer for my DH.

Just in case that matters... :rolleyes1

I'm facing a decision between YC and Poly, so I feel your pain.

Our main considerations are theme and convenience. We prefer the Poly theme, but we expect to spend much more time in World Showcase than Magic Kingdom. YC also seems more convenient to AK and DTD. Good luck with your decision!

No question for us, it's the Poly. Rooms are larger and are laid out better. We love the Monorail. Being able to walk from the resort to EPCOT was a big plus for the BC, and the boat ride to DHS was nice as well. The tropical feel of the Poly, however and the view of the castle, the electric water pageant and wishes from the beach, just make it home for us.

they are my two favorite resorts!

They are both great.:thumbsup2

We are planning a trip in June and are going to do a split stay Poly/BC. Our favorite resort is BC, however we haven't stayed at the Poly yet. We shall see if I can be converted to a Poly fan! We really don't like the separate building design, and to me, it's very expensive for what you get. It looks like it hasn't changed a bit since the 70's, but I guess that's the charm. BC feels more "upscale" to me. BC is definately lacking in CS food options, Captain Cooks is awesome! And no hot tub at the Poly - now that won't be an issue for us in June, however other times a year you want a hot tub cause it can get cold! Also, we prefer 2 sinks outside of the bathroom like BC, because we have 5 people and more that one person can get ready at a time. No time to waste when you are at Disney!!!

I really appreciate all of the great information! No hot tub at the Poly??!! They should be all over the grounds! How is the pool at the Poly? It looks small. Does it get overcrowded?

We just returned from a stay at the Poly yesterday! It was great! DH wants to stay there everytime now! The pool is small, but it was practically empty during our stay. In fact, I have several pictures were my dh and Dds were the only ones in the pool.

Alot of people say the Poly pool is always overcrowded, but we didn't find that to be the case. There is the drawback that there is no hot tub (and we do love hot tubs), but we love the Poly for so many other features that not having a hot tub isn't an issue for us. The volcano pool is our favorite of all the resorts we've stay at, including SAB at the BC.

We've never stayed at BC, but I hope to once our boys are older. Right now, while they are young, we like to be on the monorail since we spend more time at MK than EPCOT. Also, I have heard that while it *is* awesome, the pool at the BC is huge and hard to keep up with little ones. The Poly pool is manageable for me to watch the kids without having to run all over keeping them in sight.

Once our boys have grown some and we have more interest in EPCOT, we're totally staying at BC!

We are huge Beach Club Fans. There is so much to do in the EPCOT Resort area without ever going to a park. Ride a Surrey Bike around Crescent Lake, hang out on the Boardwalk at night with lots of fun entertainment. Sit on the beach at night and watch a movie or watch the fireworks from EPCOT. Dining options are endless in that area between Y&BC, BW, Swan, Dolphin, and EPCOT WS a short stroll away. You can also walk to HS. The pool at BC is amazing and we love the atmosphere. Having said all of this...Poly is also lovely. We have never stayed there but we have dined there several times and walked around the resort. If I couldn't stay at the BC for some reason...Poly would be fine with me also. It really is very pretty and the monorail is a plus. Good luck. I think you can't go wrong either way.:thumbsup2
