I just booked our one and only trip to DisneyWorld (we live in CA so have been to Disneyland several times). I have two girls - 12 and 14 plus a husband. He was trying to budget more than I was so now I just need encouragement that I did the right thing. I have only put a deposit down. We are staying in a garden room at the Beach Club resort. I had a code that gave all of us free dining plus package. I also purchased hopper tickets which I am sure I want. I did not purchase the water package. Total for 7 nights and 8 days $5,100. What do you think?

You did not mention what time of the year but when I look at this for Aug 25 - Sept 1 (7 nights) with 7day park hoppers and FREE dining at Beach Club in a garden view room the total comes up to $4,149.40.

So we must be looking at something different in the packages for there to be that much difference.

What are the details of your package?

For one thing, I'm guessing the OP has 8 day tickets priced - but that wouldn't add up to that much difference.

OP - when you're going makes the most difference so we need your details! Although general public free dining is in August/September like the PP priced out, PIN codes can be valid for many dates.

Did you purchase trip insurance with your package?

We are going July 8 - July 15 I am sure it is a time for high prices. Unfortunately, I am a teacher so our vacations are always mid summer. The meal package is one quick meal, one sit down meal and one snack. We have not rented a car.

You will love BC! We stayed there last summer and it was fantastic! This summer we are staying at BCV for the first time. It is so nice to walk to/from Epcot. A bit of a longer walk to/from Studios or take the boat. BC has a fun swimming pool that has a lazy river. The resort is beautiful!

You can also walk all around the Boardwalk area. Great restaurants and entertainment.

Great job. We book our vacations every year at WDW, just like you did. Your dining plan will give you more than enough food and the park hoppers, to me, is the only way to go, plus it gives you more flexibility on your sit down meals reservations (you have started your dining reservations, right?). The Beach Club is a beautiful resort, you will have no regrets booking there, plus the pool area are so big that the State of Florida has classified as a water park.

For July 8-15, rack rate at the Beach Club is $400/440 (weekdays/ends). So rack rate for your room for those dates would be 5 nights @ $400, 2 nights @ $440 = $2880. That is without taxes which is 12.5%, so another $360 for a total room rate of $3240.

8 day park hoppers for 4 adults = $292.88 + $58.58 (hopping) = $351.46 pp x 4 people = $1405.84

Subtotal = $4645.84.

If you were to add 7 nights of paid dining for 4 adults, that would add $53.54 per night per person to your reservation or another $1500, which would make your total over $6000.

So you are getting something for free or discounted, but it's not clear to me that you have the right price for free dining.

If you really had free dining, your total should be the $4600-ish number I quoted (or a little more if you added insurance, but I don't think it would be $500 more).

That's the only thing I can think of - insurance - but I thought insurance was around $100 per package.

Maybe someone else has some smarter ideas than I do.

We LOVE the Beach Club. The pool is fabulous, with a terrific water slide, lazy river, sand bottom, whirlpool, and lots of lounging space. There are many good restaurants around the lake at the Beach Club and the other Epcot resorts, which are just a short boat ride or walk away. The Marketplace has delicious takeout and there are couple of lounging areas that are air conditioned when you need a break from the heat. You did a GREAT job!
