Beach Club Fans - SAB sand question?

We are staying at the Beach Club this July for the first time and I can't wait to try SAB ! My question - I understand that there is a sand bottom in a portion of the pool. Does this mean there is sand for the kids to play in? Will there be kids with buckets and shovels (meaning: should I bring a bucket and shovel for my 3 year old?).

Hi just returned last week from the beach Club Villas with a 3 yo DD and 9 yo DS.

Yes, the whole bottom of the pool is sand, plus there is a huge mound in the middle of the pool for the kiddies to build things with. There are some buckets there, if you don't want to bother packing them./

We didn't pack any this trip just let the kids use what was there. it kept them occupied. Last year I did bring some buckets, shovels and such. My 3 yo isn't the best at sharing yet and got mad when other kids tried to use her stuff, thats one of the reasons I didn't take them this trip plus we packed alot lighter and really didn't have the room.

There are sandy areas to play in. In the past, when you bought a kids' meal at Hurricane Hannah's, you got it in a plastic pail with a small shovel attached.

We've always seen pails and shovels available, although as I type this I just realized we haven't hung out on that side the last couple of trips because they have "graduated" to the slide and lazy river.

They do grow fast don't they.

I've also seen shovels and pails for sale in the gift shops at the Beach Club as well as the Polynesian Resort.

The "lazy river" is not that long and it is very deep, like 8 feet. It's one quick loop around, about 50-100' long.

Hurricane Hannah's (which is the snack shop located right next to the Kiddie area of SAB) has a lunch menu which includes a children's lunch special. The kids get their lunch served in a bucket with a shovel. I think the lunch included a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, chocolate chip cookie and an applesauce. My kids used their bucket and shovel the entire trip which kept me from having to pack them.

My DSs now 11 & 15 spent a lot of time when they where younger digging and building in the sand! We love SAB....can't wait three weeks and we will be there. Wouldn't be surprised if my younger son still wants to dig in the sand!

We were there last August and loved SAB, but I thought that since it was August that the pool closed pretty early, 8:00pm. Hopefully it will be opened later in July.

We spent a week at the Beach Club at the end of May and loved the pool area. The sand is fabulous-we purchased DD a set with bucket, shovel and some other sand toys in a plastic basket for $4.00. We bought them at the little store located at the Beach Club pool. We didn't have to pack them and then we left them for another child to use-they were cheap enough that it didn't matter.
