Beach Club DVC Lobby getting facelift

Yeah thanks for keeping us informed!:yay: The rooms they have started what floor are they on...are they facing the pool?:thanks:

What was wrong with the old DVC lobby? I guess when you are spending someone else's money, you come up with projects to blow their dues money on.

Not sure why everyone is so opposed to this. I did a search and found a picture posted on allears in 2012 of the lobby with a stenciled floor. Found another picture on a travel agency website of the stenciled lobby posted in 2013.

Looks to me as if DVC is just restoring the floor as it was. Rather unusual, as other rehabs seem to be taking away many features we had at the resorts.

ETA: When checking the image info of picture on allears it says last modified Monday, April 23, 2012. However when comparing the floral arrangement of the 2012 picture and the one there now, they are almost identical.

Imagine if there was a surplus and they decided to reduce the dues for a year or too. They state that any increase are approved by members. I have never approved an increase.

I have to agree that the stenciled floor has always been there. It must look much brighter now. I've always kind of liked it!

Not all but there are some that will complain about anything and everything DVC does, no matter what it is. They complain that DVC doesn't do XYZ, and if DVC does address it they want to know why DVC didn't change it to ABC. While I don't agree with everything DVC does (who does), I don't believe all decisions are based on screwing the members as some do.

Personally the floor look is interesting/unique. It adds character, its a focal point. It also will have minimal impact on my stay. I am interested in how the BWV remodel looks. I have been torn on this. At first I liked it (by photos) than I thought it looked to generic and took away from the Boardwalk vibe. After that I looked at the old decor, ugly couch, paint colors, drapes and comforters were not exactly exciting, so I'm not sure the new isn't better.

IMO, fortunately it is not run like a Condo association where everyone's personal preferences are bickered about. IMO, Dues are there to help maintain and enhance property. Based on DVC resale prices, which are strong they have been able to do so. While there are plenty of quality timeshares off property, there are also some that could use stronger mgt and improved maintenance. For years I have read on these boards that BCV was in need of a major refurb, now its being done. Quite honestly I have not looked at the budget in great detail to analyze, but the refurb and capital improvement is budgeted over years. I am guessing that the increases are operating expenses, mgt expenses, insurance, etc. With 1000's of timeshare owners at each DVC, I doubt there is a way to gain a consensus on anything.

My home resort is BWV, I personally have no issue with the long hallways (never understood the logic of some people wanting a second set of elevators, you would still need to walk to them). If timeshare owners had more input I would be afraid they would want a 2nd set of elevators, or would want to eliminate the entertainers at night on the boardwalk. While I personally may not stop to watch the entertainment IMO it enhances the overall experience of the Boardwalk atmosphere.

FINALLY STARTING?!?!! And just a few weeks shy of when March's Disney Files "officially" said the BCV refurb would be complete!

Been waiting so long for this......as countless others have said, way too long overdue!
Agreed.... and we booked based on the refurb being done. Ah, well. We'll manage to enjoy somehow ;)

Just returned last Thursday night from a 10 day stay at BCV & I did NOT even notice the floor?? Hmmmm. I guess I'm always too busy looking up (I like to take a lot of photographs of the signs to put in my scrapbook). I did notice that this year they now have mats with the new DVC logo. Last year, BCV lobby still had the old logo doormats.

HOPE that you had a GREAT STAY! :cheer2:How was the condition of your room?:confused3 TIA! HOPING that the renovation will be underway by October, but read somewhere on boards that a CM at BCV said rehab may be deferred for a year? :confused3:wave:

Thank you! Yes, we had a terrific trip. Studio- Room 421, right off the elevator, as requested.
Our room condition was fine. Nothing new. No big deal. We did have 2 hair dryers, which we never use. Cable went out now & then. But we chalked that up to the storms. Mousekeeping always appeared in a timely manner whenever we called for something (toilet paper, hangars, etc.).

Fourth floor, and this was the first (out of 8 BCV stays) that we had a "creature" in our room...one of those newts. :crazy2: Totally surprised me as it scurried across the carpet! Thank goodness for DS17!
