and I think it's ugly!

We are here now. They are refinishing the wood floors. At first it looked good- just a clean finish...until they started adding colored stain! Think green, blue, red, yellow in a floral pattern.

Oh my. Well, I am not a fan of the look of the Beach Club lobby. ( Except for the fresh flowers!) I just try not to dwell on it. I stay at the BCV for the location and for SAB, they cannot mess with those things!

Bobbi:)

What was wrong with the old DVC lobby? I guess when you are spending someone else's money, you come up with projects to blow their dues money on.

Maybe it will look nicer once it's done. Maybe they are trying for a "beach house" look (I've been in many real beach houses....none of them as elegant as BCV).

They are probably doing it over because of the complaints from people on the Dis boards about how shabby and unkempt the place has become. Darned if you don't and darned if you do. Actually, they are doing a refurb of the whole place....so this is probably one step in the process. You know....like when you paint the walls in your living room and then decide the couch looks shabby.....then the pictures on the wall seem outdated....then the area rug doesn't match....

Have you seen any progress in any of the rooms?

The floors were looking fabulous until they added the color. At first I thought they were making a starburst design using a slightly darker stain- which I thought would look nice. I'll take a pic when they are done.

We've had two rooms. The first - 348- was the worst I've had here- water damage, missing molding, etc... The second is on the 5th floor- not remodeled yet but better with a nice fireworks view. The floors is the only work I've seen.

I saw another post showing the work in progress. It looks like it's being colored to give the effect of a rug. Usually I think that's a nice design effect so I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures of the finished floor.

This is the first time posting pics so I hope it worked. I believe they are finished with it- if you can't tell the colors are primary which I don't get as it doesn't match the rest of the colors of the resort.

Oooh, yah, not liking that much. And to think, as an owner, I helped pay for that.

I think it is kind of cool looking. Maybe the interior common areas are going to follow with a color change. A lot of people do that with their wood floors....personally, I would never do that to mine. Hopefully whatever they seal the floor with is extremely durable and the design does not get damaged easily.

Thanks for posting the pictures Gillyrose. I hope you have a wonderful trip (whatever is left of it).

Hasn't it always looked like that though? It's just being redone, so looks brighter at the moment?

Has work stated on the rooms yet? was supposed to start May31 I think? Iam hoping for a refurb room in July....If they started by then!

Well, I'm not so concerned about the looks as the smell! I used to LOVE the smell when I walked in the doors from outside, was it floor wax? My apologies to the people who almost bumped into the crazy woman who stopped suddenly in front of them as they walked through the doors just so she could inhale deeply and smile. I must admit that as long as that as long as that smell is still there, I'm OK with the new look.

We were just there may 13-24th. Our 2 bedroom villa was in rough shape. Went to open a cabinet in the kitchen on the first day and the door literally fell off. Cabinets are all dented and scraped And so is furniture. Master toilet ran constantly and had to be fixed. So glad they are getting refurbished.

FINALLY STARTING?!?!! And just a few weeks shy of when March's Disney Files "officially" said the BCV refurb would be complete!

Been waiting so long for this......as countless others have said, way too long overdue!
