We (me, hubby, DD-19, and her boyfriend-20) just got back last night from three nights at the Beach Club. We did the three nights at Disney after visiting family in South Florida for Christmas.

We arrived in Orlando about noon on Wednesday after driving up from Fort Lauderdale. We checked into the Beach Club and had the only major snafu of the entire trip.

We got assigned room 4586 get there to find out that there are only two beds (we needed 3 since DD and her boyfriend were told separate beds). I call downstairs to be told we would be moved to a room with a day bed. Room 4712 get there to find a nice view of the roof and a balcony that was about 1 ' x 3'. I am not paying holiday rates for that balcony and view. To top it off at this point no luggage. After three calls and someone finally showing up after an hour to "move our luggage" to our new room the person felt bad after we explained that the luggage had never been delivered.

I went downstairs at this point (almost 1:30 by this time) to get some food while hubby went to get yet another room (he was very annoyed by this point especially about the luggage). We got yet another room 4582 (2 doors down from our original room). The person he spoke to this time told him that we could get a rollaway bed (the first person I spoke to never told me that when I called and when I had told Central Reservations we needed a rollaway they told me that they were not available since they had day beds).

Hubby got someone to come right up with him to get the luggage moved yet again and by 2 pm we were in the room and had lunch to bring up the sugar levels.

We then headed off to the Magic Kingdom and some of the worst crowds we encountered the entire trip. We did Haunted Mansion and Pirates before heading to the Plaza Restaurant for dinner at 5. It was the first time we ate there and the food was good and service great. The only problem was it took a while to get our milkshakes due to the number of orders for them that came in at the same time. Just as we finished dinner they lit the castle up as the ice castle. Very gorgeous and fun to watch it being lit. After dinner we headed back to the room and then over to MGM for their late hours. The park was packed there and we didn't get to ride on Rockin Roller Coaster it was still over an hour despite the late hours. They went on the ToT but I passed on it. We walked right on Star Tours and had a 10 minute wait for the Great Movie Ride. We headed back to the room around 11 since we all agreed to get up at 6 for Animal Kingdom. We had to wait a bit for a boat to bring us back but it went quickly.

Day 2 - Up at 6 for Animal Kingdom. The buses from the Beach Club are great since they are rarely full and run often. We were at Animal Kingdom by 6:45. We rode Expedition Everest by 7:15 and then went over to do the Safari and some danish and coffee for breakfast since Kali River Rapids didn't open till 8. Kali was great as usual. We rode it three straight times without getting off. On the last ride the other family we were with got off (mom was wet enough) and the last hill was the best since we spun the entire way down and we all ended up soaking wet. We then went back to the hotel and got cleaned up and off to Epcot we go.

Epcot was nice since we came in the International Gateway and most folks had not made their way over there yet from the main entrance. We walked through most of the shops and had lunch from the Mexican Catina (Combo meal, drink and Churro - Yum). From there we went back to the hotel and caught the Magic Kingdom Bus and met up with DD and Boyfriend for the boat ride over to Fort Wilderness and Hoop Dee Doo Review. HDDR is my Disney tradition. I think I have seen it over 20 times.

They took away the corn since the last time we were there (our server said they had problems getting good corn year round) and replace it with mashed potatoes (excellent very creamy). They also got a new head chef who changed the beans to be Cowboy Beans. We didn't like them at all. Very odd taste and they had lots of meat shredded within the beans. I am a vegetarian beyond eating poultry and I liked the old beans because I could pick out the chunk of bacon and still eat the beans. Our waiter told us that many folks don't like the new beans and to be sure to tell the manager on the way out. (I did tell him that I am now no longer able to eat them due to the shredded meat). If you go there voice your opinion too.

Trip Report Continued:

After dinner at HDDR we went to Downtown Disney and did some shopping. I picked up a Baby Pooh for my Goddaughter. She will love it. Early Bed tonight. Tomorrow - Up again at 6 to do the Magic Kingdom early.

Day 3 - Up at 6 for The Magic Kingdom. Got there again around 6:45 and seen the park's opening ceremony. Then off to ride Space Mountain (5 minute wait), Indy Speedway (5 minute wait) and It's a Small World (No wait) before they opened the rest of the Park. Splash Mountain was closed when we first got there (it was closed the first day also due to mechanical issues) so we pulled fast passes for it and then rode Big Thunder (10 minute wait). After that we went on Pirates (No wait) and Jungle Cruise (no wait) before heading back to Splash Mountain. The kid's left the park before we headed back to Splash Mountain so we used their fast passes in addition to ours so we rode it two times in 15 minutes (the wait was 30 minutes). We then headed over to ride Haunted Mansion. After that we just walked around and shopped before going to Peco's Bills for lunch.

By that time the park was getting crowded so we headed back to the hotel. I went into the pool and hubby went to the arcade. After relaxing for a bit we got cleaned up and headed over to Epcot. We walked around and then met the kids for dinner at the Nine Dragons. We all agreed that the food was excellent. The Honey Sesame Chicken was delicious and hubby and DD loved the Canton Beef.

After dinner we headed over to play Mini Golf on the Fairway Course (toughest mini golf I have ever played). It was fun and we had a lot of laughs.

Day 4 - We ordered room service breakfast so we could pack and then leave to head to the airport for our 2 pm flight. The bellman was great, he pulled out a map and told us exactly how to get to the airport from the resort. The security line was long but moved surprisingly quick. Our flight was delayed by 1:45 due to a ground stop at Newark but we landed only about 45 minutes late.

Observations:

Disney Dining Plan - Well worth the money. We made good use of the snacks (the $3.99 pineapple float at Aloha Isle is part of it). The dinner at China was covered by it - we did the sampler meals). Lunch at the Catina was about $13 per person and was covered.

Parks: Seemed much better organized this Christmas compared to last Christmas. The buses were more efficient. When we left Animal Kingdom they had extra buses sitting there and they put one in service just to take us back to the hotel.

They seemed to have lots more parades and entertainment during the day going on.

Room: Very nice room, lots of space and very clean. Our room had a view right over to Epcot for the fireworks from our balcony. Will definitely stay there again. The initial room fiasco was resolved very professionally.

Glad to hear it all worked out and you enjoyed your trip! and Baby Pooh is cute, I got one for my niece for Christmas and she loves it!

We had an interesting time with our room assignment at the BC during our stay a couple years ago in July.

I had requested (yes I know it is only a request) daybed, full balcony and was given none of the above. We needed the daybed as DS kicks like a mule. After much discussion with the CM eventually they gave us a portable bed for the evening and then moved us the next day.

Ended up in a room that overlooked the BCV that had a fireworks view, daybed, and full balcony :cool1:

I know if I hadn't been persistently nice ;) that we'd have been stuck and I'd have been stuck with bruises :rotfl:

We thought the crowds were up the 2nd week of Dec, I can't imagine what it was like after Xmas :scared:
