I am thinking of buying in at Saratoga Springs for my home resort. I would probably want to use some of the points at Beach Club Villas in the summer. Any thoughts on the availability to non home resort members during that time of the year. :earsgirl:

I am interested in the same exact question. I think the overwhelming response from owners is to only buy where you want to mostly stay. As more and more DVC resorts are built you will be competing with more and more owners who want to stay at BC, and you will not have the eleven month window. There is a reason that pool hopping is not allowed there! It is a popular place. I am really going back and forth about this because the SSR contract entitles you to 12 more years. That's a lot of vacation magic to give up...even if I am not the one who uses it! :wizard:

The pool is clearly the best on the property, though busy. Don't kid yourself, there is plenty of pool hopping going on there.

Yes, but as Mich stated, it isn't allowed. Let's not appear to be condoning it.

I think that you may be able to get some reservations at some points at the 7 month window at BCV, especially if you are willing to get on the day by day waitlist.

I guess the key question is...would your family be happy to stay at SSR? Buying a DVC resort and counting on staying elsewhere often would be a mistake, IMHO. But if you truly like SSR and would be happy to stay there if your BCV reservations don't come through, then I think you'd be okay.

I'm guessing by your signature that you might have a bit of an emotional tie to the BC/YC resorts. If BCV has the theming and feeling that makes you really feel "at home", then you might want to look at the resale market for a BCV contract.

I'm not condoning it at all. I have discussed this issue ad nauseum with the management. (illegal pool hopping at all the resorts)
The fact that there is a system in place at BCV that is rarely enforced shows a lack of respect of its guests by Disney as well as those crowding the pool from far and wide.

I am not condoning it at all, I have spoken to management about illegal pool hopping ad nauseum. I thought BC would be better monitored since they have a system in place to do so. I was saddened to see they do not.
I find that to be a security issue (see stolen items at Disney threads) and safety issue (overcrowding etc) as well as just unfair to paying guests. DVC owners are told they can't hop there if not styaing there but people not even on property are there. I think the free transportation is the key to ending this. They need to be able to scan keys to see that people using the free buses are entitled to them. Just for starters. It won't hold people up because by keeping people without rooms or theme park tickets off the buses it will free up many many seats.
