beach chairs and beach umbrella? airplane

does anyone have any ideas on how to take these things on a plane? went to Daytona for 3 days and rented a boogie board and chairs for $40./day not doing it again> what do you pack it in or wrap it up, so it doesn't break, even if we buy it down there how do we get it home, had to give away all the sand toys we bought last yr,,would love any ideas....

You should be able to check them at the counter with your luggage. I won an umbrella on my last trip and they wouldn't let me carry it on, so they just had me fill out an id tag and taped it to the umbrella. They probably will wrap them with shrink wrap before they check them.

Do you think checking an beach umbrella is possible? I agree $40 a day is crazy.

wow thats my original note from 2004...i do this almost every time we fly..i bought thie huge field hockey bag..its soft and nylon and i put the chairs and umbrella and sandy toys in it and they always ask me whats in there so i wrote.."beach chairs" on the outside of it..

We checked a lawn chair going island to island in Hawaii back when you got free bags, but most airlines now would charge you more than the items are worth for baggage.

This is pretty funny I'm glad to hear you have actually done it. I am going to look for a bag. I have a sportbella. It is very roomy, so I don't need to bring a chair. I'm good sitting on a towel. I'm planning to go to Aulani for two weeks. The cost to rent beach stuff for that long is hundreds of dollars. I have to check the cost for bags, but it can't be more than $50 round trip.

when we went to Daytona they wanted i think 50 pr chr for a week so we went to publix and bought 1 and gave it away...
