Right now Amazon has this going
www.amazon.com/Samsung-GX-1S-Digita...d_ts_p_77/104-3015276-5543946?ie=UTF8&s=photo
From what I found on another site
The GX-1S wasn't actually created by Samsung -- it's the now-discontinued Pentax *ist DS2 with a Samsung label on it. Same goes for the GX-1L, which is the same as the *ist DL

All of the Samsung DSLRs are really Pentaxes. They jointly developed them, but all are made on Pentax production lines. Do not go with an older equiv. Samsung when you can get a K100D for around $420 after rebate right now. They also have a K100D equiv., but I do not know the model numer and there is no rebate on them.

That fuji should blow away the Canon once you hit 400 ISO+, though the one thing I do not like about Fuji's was there was no rotating LCD IIRC
Well, we're talking pocket-size 3x-zoom models (though the sensors are, I believe, I identical to the long-zoom versions), so no rotating LCD no matter which way we go.

I'm really curious about the low ISOs as well. The much larger sensor should, on paper, mean noticably better sharpness regardless of ISO. We've taken a couple side-by-side photos but haven't put them on the PC. (Was in Pennsylvania all weekend.) I'll report honestly what I discover. :)

Regarding dust-shaking sensors, the K10D does have the dust-removed, the K100D (non-Super) doesn't. I think it's probably worthwhile but not a significant enough feature to choose one over the other - I'm not sure that I'd pay a lot extra over a regular K100D for the Super. But it would be a nice feature to have, and I'm sure my next DSLR will have it. :teeth:

FWIW, I've found more differences with the K100D vs DL than I expected... mostly minor things like a different (and slightly quieter) shutter sound, better angle of view on the LCD, slightly different grip, etc... but nice upgrades all the same.

saw this on Fatwallet:

go to shop.com (you must type in the address, C&P will not work)

under stores, click on Beach Camera, shop as usual.

at checkout, enter code WBR2PQ7 for 10% off, in the form of a credit back onto your credit card.

Brings the price of the Pentax K100D Super to $394 after rebates.

Great deal if it works (I've never used shop.com)... this'd bring down a K10D with kit lens to $557, or $499 for body only. Not bad!

Unfortunately they're out of stock on the Pentax 31mm F1.8... argh!

according to the folks at Fatwallet, Shop.com has been around for a while and is reputable. The 10% back on the card might be a little slow, but they're good about posting the credit.

I've had the k100D in my cart all day, thinking ...

I tried to snag a D80 but think the offer has timed out. I kept getting "invalid code" msg's at checkout and there is a post at the end of the FW thread that the deal was over. Hope that's not the case, if you are planning on the K100D.

easy come, easy go... LOL. It wasn't meant to be, then.

I'll edit the title here to reflect that it's dead.
