What is the beach like at HH? Do you have to drive there or can you walk? How does it compare to Vero's?

We just got back from HH last night. I love the beach there a lot more then VB. It has a huge beach area. Tons of tide pools where you can see all kinds of cool sea creatures. The water is much calmer then VB.

You can walk to the beach or ride bikes if you want. It is 1.5 miles away. With all the junk we bring (chairs, towels, food, boogie boards, etc) we drive. There is also a shuttle available. Have fun!

We go to HHI at least once a year. At low tide, the beach goes on forever. The water seems to be calm almost all the time. Some mornings it's just plain glassy. Right on about the tide pools - you'll also find some of the best shells. We find some fully intact and huge mussels. Of course the gulls had picked out the flesh, but their abductor muscles were still there, so the shells opened and closed. The beach is also very clean.

We were at HH in Oct and going back this weekend.

I would suggest planning to drive/ catch the shuttle to the beach. There is no issue with parking once there. It is quite a little hike and as LisaR stated if you have a bag loaded with 'stuff' / chairs etc. you need to drive.

It is a very nice beach area and the pool is very nice too.

I have a question. We are leaving for HH in just a few days. I already know I would prefer to drive or take the shuttle, but which is easier? Does the shuttle run often? Is there a place to get the sand off of yourself before you get in the car? (I am driving my own, if it was a rental I wouldn't care as much;) ). Thanks!

As you come off the beach and into the beach club area there is a shower head to rinse off yourself and your 'stuff'.
