Beach at Clearwater around Dec 28th?

We are planning our X-Mas trip to Disney, since we only arrive on Dec 31st at POR, we tough we'd go at the beach for a couple of days before.

We've been to Daytona Beach in june 2005 and it was great

But, we would like to go elsewhere this time. It would be Dec 29-30th.

It is too cold to even think to go to the beach at that time? How's the water's temperature at Clearwater????

Is this a bad idea??

Do you recommand a place for a family of 5?

I use to live down that way back in the 80's...the weather is quite ............un- predictable...It could be warm ( i have cut my grass that time of year ) Or it could be freezing...(my oldest daughter and grandchildren still live there) It's a wonderfull area just can't tell you what the weather will be like....I would not get in the water that time of year but have seen many people go out in play....... Okay i have lived in the south too long.....

the Gulf water temps plummet to the 60's in December. great for fishing, bad for swimming unless you have a wetsuit.
