we are jsut starting to travel......this is addition to my post below...( no florida) we live in WI
i would like to go to the ocean.....small simple trip just to relax. does anyone know of places, that we can go to drive ( dh also does not like to drive for more than 4 hours
 )
any place that come to mind that are big on beach and big on fun for kids? - we would go in summer or early fall.

I don't mean to offend and don't want to cause a divorce but if
DH doesn't want to travel for long periods why not go yourself?

My DH was travelling a lot and we were just sitting at home so we planned a trip up to Yosemite (just my 3 kids and me) let me tell you it was an adventure!!!(about a 1000mile trip)
but it was fun.

I'm not familiar with your area but aren't there "beach" areas by lakes up there somewhere?

Good luck and I hope you find a great vacation spot!

We have often vacationed in Door County, WI. it's a lot closer to you than it is to us, but there is plenty to do there! It would take you 2 LONG days to drive to the ocean from WI. What about the Indiana Dunes area? Or take the car ferry from Manitowac to Luddington, MI and visit some beaches and towns there.

HI

i have calmed down a bit LOL

actually i did just that LMAO.....i called my sister to see if she would be intrested in going on a overnight vacation with myself and my 2 girls.....ALL GIRL trip six flags great america in july :)

my husband relented when i was on the phone and said he would go to state fair LOL

i want to go to the ocean because the lake is well, the lake. We live right on the lake ( the city not our house) i know alot of us take it for granted.....the ocean is new to me and soo very appealing . we do go to the lake parks etc, but the oceans are just different ~ i hope that makes sense!

thank you
edited to add : i DID ask my sister if she would like to go along to WDW next year!

Tina:crazy:

I too live less than 1/2 mile from beaches along Lake Erie. However, it's just not the same as the ocean. However, from your area the drive is really long-- it would be downright painful for someone who can't drive for more than 4 hrs  . Try tripadvisor. Put in your city. They have a great feature that will give you weekend get-aways from your area.
