Be careful of this motel!

Anybody who stays at a hotel or motel east of 535 on 192 in Kissimmee is insane!!!20-30 years ago it was where everyone stayed, now the area is simply scary and dangerous!!Pretty much all the hotels left there are dirty roach motels where it's not surprising to see people like this living there!

Yes. I actually try not to recommend any hotels on US 192 anymore. 535 is the best area.

There are however some really nice new rental resorts set back off the 192, between the 535 area and the SuperWalmart. It is not all bad past the 535 :goodvibes

Thats off thy main drag tho.Yes there is some nice sub-divisions..
But the old hotels are very ran down and looks like a breeding ground for crime too me..

I just actually went to have a look at where exactly this "Motel" is and found this on LIVE MAPS.
This Motel is actually more than 8 miles away from the Walmart at N Bass Rd...
...about 11 miles away from the 535...
...and over 15 miles away from the nearest Disney World Arch.

If you have a look at the link above you will see that this is not a typical tourist hotel/motel but is more of a bedsit and would pose a very insignificant risk to Disney visitors. At least the authorities should know exactly where they are!

We have been to Disney World many times and to be honest, have never ventured or had the need to venture further east than N Orange Blossom Trail. So it really doesn't bother us. I have absolutely no sympathy for these people but accept they have to live somewhere and as I have said above, at least the authorities know where to find them. You would find that this may be a similar situation here in the UK but it isn't public knowledge where they live.

I have stayed in a questionable hotel in Orlando once but why would someone pick this one, I have never seen it show up on Orbitz, Travelocity or any other site. If someone is looking for that much of a bargain on vacation they deserve what they get.

Me neither. That is miles and miles East of where i've ever needed to be. Furtherest East we have stayed was in a Villa at Winward Cay which is east of 535 but just West of Old Vineland/Oren Brown road. I've never liked the look of some of the Motels on the 192 to begin with and don't like the idea of your Motel room being open out onto the car park anyway.

Years ago to get to the Florida mall i'd head east along 192 to Orange Blossom Trail and thought it looked dodgy around that area then, now i use Osceola Parkway and the Greeneway to reach the Florida mall and cut out the east end of the 192 altogether.

If i was to stay in an off site hotel rather than a villa i'd look to stay around Lake Buena Vista, certainly not the east of the 192.

I am sorry but I find this comment quite offensive. NOBODY deserves what you are implying, just by picking the wrong motel. Whether it is from looking for a bargin or just not being knowledgable on the area.

what motel was/is it? It won't provide a link for me - it is just todays news.

Sorry, don't remember the name of it. I did click on a map link in a PP post above and it showed it on Irlo Bronson Hwy by Pecan Drive. It looks like a little rundown roadside motel according to the aerial view.

It comes up as the Friendly Village Inn, from the address on the LiveMap link. When I click on the OP's link, it sends me to the Chicago Tribune page, so no help there.

Looks like it's a small place rented to transient types, and I've never seen it advertised anywhere...not a tourist risk, in other words.

Think Bates Motel but instead a trailer behind where "mother" peeps out. Oh look, a chop shop next door and I wonder how my car got there.
