Be Careful and stay cool!

Ugh! We are headed there Friday and I am not looking forward to the heat!! I live near SF where, even on a hot day, it's not so hot!! Lol

Holy cow, those temps are going to be as high as it will be here in Tucson this week!

Drink plenty of water and don't forget to replenish your electrolytes, too. And take it easy in the hottest part of the day. Wear a hat with a wide brim. Also, stores like REI often sell these neck wrap things that have super absorbent crystals in them and it helps to make you feel cooler.

Seriously...last week they said mid-high 80's for our trip (tomorrow through Sunday), now it's mid-high 90's which feels like 100+ in the parks with all the people and the asphalt/concrete.

Really, it can be downright miserable in the parks at these temps, so we'll be doing indoor rides, mid-afternoon break at the hotel in AC/pool when temps are highest, etc...

I always tell people on this board that it can get very, very hot out here in September. September is often our worst month as far as heat. It is very hot right now -- but this is not even the worst heat we have had in September. Five years ago in September it was something like 118 degrees in Anaheim/Disneyland. It's just not pleasant when it's that hot. For me, it feels like the sun is burning the flesh off of my face! :lmao:

That is our plan as well!!

I forgot to mention that I totally agree with Tyggress that it feels even hotter in the parks -- hotter than whatever the actual temperature is -- because of all of that pavement, and all of those people everywhere. Plus, a lot of times you might be waiting in some sort of line -- even if the line moves fairly quickly (like with POTC, for example), even 3 minutes of standing in one spot with that super harsh ball of fire beaming down on you can be awful.

It's days like these when the nice, comfy, dimly-lit, cool lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel comes in handy!

I'm an AP holder and frequent park-goer, as I live in SoCal...so when the temps get like this and it's a trip I've had planned for awhile, I just work around it (early morning parks, pool/AC/hotel from 12 - 3, and then back to the parks for the evening when it cools down. If I'm planning a day trip, and I find out it's going to be this hot, I just don't go! LOL

Pleeeease cool down before Dapper day!!!!! It makes dressing up a little less fun when it's that hot!:faint:

:faint: it's just as miserable here in the bay area, high 90s all week ugh!

We arrive Thursday night and I'm happy we're taking an evening flight now. Thankfully we have a 7 night stay booked in December so our plan for the heat is to go early, use FP as a priority and duck into air conditioning areas as much as possible.

Aladdin at DCA is the best spot along with the animation building. In Disneyland Main Street Cinema and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln can be a lifesaver.

I'm really glad I rescheduled our dinner at Big Thunder Ranch to our December trip because this heat is horrible. Instead we're doing Napa Rose on Friday for an early dinner. Hydration and knowing where and when to take breaks is crucial.

We have the Halloween tour booked so I'm excited for that to skip some lines at least.

Astylla where in the Bay are you? I'm in El Cerrito and it's never this hot and I hate it! I'm heading to DL Friday morning and not looking forward to the heat! We'll be using the pool at the Grand for sure!!!

I'm on the border of Hayward and Castro Valley in an old apartment on the top floor without air conditioning so it's been horrible. Pleasanton is over 100 where I work but thankfully I work in a cold office.

I live in Tucson and when it's that hot out plus So Cal humidity, you have to hibernate in the middle of the afternoon. So if you are staying at a nearby hotel, retreat to the hotel until dinner time. If you are not a rope dropper, THIS would be the trip to become one. Catch up on your sleep in the hottest part of the day. The Spanish had a great idea when they invented the siesta.

I wish I had known this! We're from Phoenix but we're dying in the heat. I saw a lot of medical emergencies in the parks today. We stayed all day but tomorrow we will definitely do some shows at DCA at the hottest part of the day (12-5ish?!). I'll never come this time of year again. I'm making early December or early March our time to visit from now on.

We were there the third week of September last year and said Never Again! Just too hot! We'd previously been in October and June and both times were super comfortable.

Gah! We are going the week of the 27th, and this will be the first time for us during the summery season. We've been in Oct, Dec, and March. If this nasty weather continues, I'm definitely going to have to realign hubby's expectations. We like to take it easy, arrive "whenever" during the morning, and stay as late as the kid's energy allows. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we won't have to wake up early on our vacation!

I'll trade some of my mid 50s for your high 90s - maybe we can all meet in the middle around 75?

It hit 100 when we were there early October last year, I remember having lunch at French Market and managing to catch the sunny bit between the shade cloth, absolutely scorching, enjoyed a very cool swim afterwards!

Sounds like a good excuse to grab several Dole Whips and escape to the Tikki Room! Stay cool everyone!
(as I melt in the 106 degree heat we had today!)

Been here since Monday, and the heat is incredible. I made the mistake on Tuesday of pushing too hard, and ended up with a migraine. Kept up the water since, and taken breaks in the afternoon, and apart from a little sunburn, I've managed to get through it. I go home tomorrow night, but hopefully it cools off soon for everyone!
