Be AWARE when calling MS

Called MS the other day and asked for 5/4-5/10 @ SSR in studio. Was told all but the 7th was available @ SSR and OKW had all but the 8th. Before booking I had to call DH to verify he could get time off, so I asked MS if there was plenty of availbility as I wasn't able to book right then. He gave me the normal quote...he couldn't give me an exact number but there were several rooms available but that could change at any time. Sent an SOS text to DH and within 30 minutes he verified he had the time off. Called MS back, got someone else, and ask for availability for those dates and was told nothing available. Was in shock and didn't quite believe it so I asked to check again, for any of those nights and mentioned I had just called was told there was availability. (even though I know availability can change) She reitereated there was absolutely no availbility at SSR or any other resort for a studio. Thought it was a little odd that there wasn't even one night available so I again asked, if ANY of the nights were avaialble, again was told NO. She said there was availability in a 1 bdrm... didn't really want to spend the extra points, we went back and forth a few minutes. I was a little frustrated, so I said to her "I really find it hard to believe there is no availability for any nights in any studio for 5/4-/10, espcially since I called 30 minutes ago and was told there were rooms at both SSR & OKW. She looked again and said; "Oh, it looks like it just opened up at SSR in a studio for those dates all but the 7th is available." (EXACTLY the same thing the first MS told me on my earlier call). SHOCKER!!! Long story short I booked it and cash for the 7th but I truly believe she was only looking for availability for all nights even though I made it VERY clear I wanted to know if any nights were available... so be aware and don't be afraid to ask questions. Or hang up and call back and hopefully get someone else that knows what they're doing.
 
Remember that any unreserved DVC rooms are turned over to Cash reservations at 60 days (breakage inventory). Likely to get those dates, they had to reclaim some unreserved breakage inventory, and it did not show immediately in their system as being available on points.

While that is true, I would expect MS reps to at least LOOK there.
 
Yes I have had the same thing happen to me. I usually hang up and call back and talk to someone else. Glad you were able to get a room!
 

How would it work to call twice? Don't they make a note in the computer when they give advice when we call?

I've noticed before that MS will answer your question exactly as you asked. If you ask for a range of dates and if one is not available, then the nights are not available. So if I'm willing to split stays, I will tell the CM I'm pretty flexible about my dates and I will ask if any of the nights are available. And are the nights I can't reserve at this resort available at any of the others.

And now I might ask about breakage villas being available if I'm calling within the 60 day mark.
