We've never stayed at either but the decor looks very similar -- just curious if the "atmosphere" is different between them? I'm imagining that BW would have a busier feel and BCV would be a little more remote and laid back ... anyone have an opinion on this?

That's exactly how we felt about it. BCV seems more quiet and remote. I think partly because they are not connected to the lobby. BWV seems to have lots of activity. We've stayed at both and enjoy them each for different reasons.

My impressions also were exactly as you imagined. And the location of the lobby was an important part of that. I noticed that when you come down on the elevator in BCV, open the doors, and peace and quiet. Come down to the main floor in BWV, open the doors, and instant action! Either that or take the elevator all the way to Level 1, and it's just not as pretty as BCV when the doors open.

We are just back from our first trip "home" to the Beach Club Villas (trip report coming soon), and I can say there is absolutely a difference...

The BCVs are a perfect place to come "home" to after a busy day in the parks. There is still tons to do there, great restaurants, MGM, Boardwalk, Epcot, Storm Along Bay, but the serenity of the "sea" can't be beat. Even when the resort is booked solid, you can have peace and quiet, if that is what you want.

The Boardwalk (never stayed there - just toured) seems to have a much more bustling theme and feel - the colors, the boardwalk itself, the pool, all the people around. Though it's just across the lake from the BCVs, it appears to be a very different place. I know we'll try it on a future trip, but...

You can add me to the list of BCV fans. That place is the best of all worlds. Boy, did I pick the right "home" resort for us :teeth:

We found the Boardwalk itself busy, but the lobby was usually quiet when we were coming and going. Then again, all resorts are quiet at 6am - and so is the BW!

To me, BWV seems busier and more hotel like, and BCV seems more relaxed and more like home. I like the decor better at BCV, and definately like the ability to park your car yourself, closer to the building. I own at OKW and like to stay there for anything but a studio, but for a studio, I pick BCV hands down. I love the walk around the lake to get to everything BWV has to offer, and the walk back to the quiet. That is what is so great about DVC - we have so many choices.

Just back today from a 5 night at BWV's and 4 nights at VWL. For us, BWV's beat VWL hands down.

We went over to BCV's a couple times and we may do a 50 point addon there to get SAB(3 year old has sand on her mind), but for us BWV's seemed like a complete resort where the villas are the predominate unitswith the inn side seeming to be secondary. At Beach Club its the opposite, the Yacht and Beach Club resorts dominate, while the Villas are added on in the back. There isn't really a central places of activity that takes place in the evenings.

At the BWV's we watched Illuminations nightly from our BWV room(3rd floor on BW), went to ESPN a couple nights, strolled along the BW, shopped, watched some shows, then retired to the room with a 2 minute walk. We had almost no noise from the room even though we were only on the 3rd floor. Great stay.

The main lobby of both places was quiet, while VWL was easily the noisiest, but in a good way.

I thnk I would agree that the "hotel" feel of the BWV is different from the quieter feel of the BCV. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

Sometimes I like the middle of the aciton, sometimes I don't.

The nice thing about the BWV is that there are little nooks and crannies where it is quiet, lovely, and serene.

Thanks for all the feedback - I hope we're able to try both one day! :)
