BCV update

Someone on another board said today that a cm told her BCV refurb has been put on hold in order to do the VWL renovations. So so annoying to have them just decide to put refurb on hold without giving us any idea of why or when.

Can't believe they would think this is acceptable! We lowly BCV owners are still entitled to a refurb even if Disney wants to expand (not just renovate.. that was already done.. )VWL!

I don't understand why DVC would delay a renovation at BCV for a construction project somewhere else. The money should come from two different sources - owners for BCV, Disney for VWL. I would think that as long as they are happy with the designs in the "model" rooms posted previously, the reno would be pretty much on cruise control. Only thing I could think of that could be an issue is if they use the same construction company for both projects and there weren't enough workers to go around. Seems like a stretch though.

It could be that they need the rooms and can't have rooms at 2 locations out of service. Or maybe they don't have enough bodies to go around and manage the two projects. But of course could always be the same construction company/crews. Personally I suspect it put them in a position of too many rooms out of service. But whatever the reason is, DVD/DVC is prioritizing to earn more money (build a new DVC).

Or it could be that its an unsubstantiated allegation from an unreliable witness who heard it from a bus driver???

Very true. However I go back to the flood of rooms that were released back for booking at least thru the fall and might have gone thru Dec too - I didn't pay too much attention past Oct which is when they were of interest to me. :teeth: That seemed like a strong signal that the rehab was very behind schedule or delayed.

OP here, it's for sure delayed, the email I got back from MS confirms that. The only thing we don't know is why or for how long.

If the point chart is any indication, I don't think DVC managment feels the refurbishment will be complete prior to 2017. The point chart through 2016 has the studio sleeping 4 not 5 like the refurbish promises. Will the point allocation change when it sleeps 5? Also... Surprised the BCV one bedroom only sleeps 4. Never noticed.

On one hand I was REALLY excited about potentially getting a renovated room, but on the other hand, I am glad I won't be staying in an ugly construction zone!

VWL were remodeled last year and in 2015 it still indicates the studio sleeps 4 and 2016 sleeps 5. So it could be standard procedure that the first annual year after the remodel the number of guests is not changed on the point charts.

If I'm booked for a deluxe standard room in BCV, could I ask to be moved over into BC to have a renovated room? I was hoping the villas would be renovated by then. What would be the potential issues with requesting a room not in the Villas?

If the BCV room was rented with points then points would need to pay for the BC room and that would be a higher number of points. Only the owner could approve of the switch plus I believe there is a $95 fee for moving the points to the Disney Collection.

We're waitlisted for December and I've been stalking the availability pretty closely. I haven't noticed extra rooms suddenly being made available so maybe a November/December start date is still on the cards?

You are so right:goodvibes...GREAT WAY to look at it! :thumbsup2

I was on the phone with MS today. Before I hung up I asked about the delay at BCV. She hadn't heard anything about it and put me on hold. She came back rather quickly and confirmed it. She did say that the delay was due to manufacturer delays on the furniture. I'm not sure I believe that is the only reason. Nevertheless, I am sure we will enjoy our upcoming stay there no matter what.
