BCV transportation changes

With BCV opening in a few days, the increase in guests has already led to the end of SAB poolhopping-since so many more people will be added to the resort increasing the demand for SAB to capacity most of the time, according to Disney

...I will be very interested to hear reports about what Disney is doing to avoid a decline in the resort experience caused by the increased demand on transportation-both buses and boats- and on the increased demand for restaurants at the YC/BC resort.
Since opening more restaurant space or adding boats or buses actually costs money (as opposed to eliminating poolhopping) I would bet Disney is doing next to nothing about either potential problem- and I further predict that guest experience with boat service to MGM will be significantly worsened, but probably not so much to Epcot since most BCV guests will walk. Bus service -if not changed- will become a major and consistent guest complaint-BEFORE they do anything about it. Wait times for YC/BC restaurants will also become worse than ever...has anyone heard anything to calm my worst fears...As a big fan of the boat ride to MGM and of Beaches and Cream, and as a BWV owner who hates being the LAST BUS STOP before going to MK, I would love to be wrong about this.

As far as resturants go, they are re-opening Yacht Club Gallery and a CM told me they might be re-opening Ariel's, possibly with a new name.

As far as buses go, I am afraid of the same problem you mentioned. This is one of the things that I had a complaint about staying at the BC, that they had too many resorts on the bus route already and with the addition of the BCV, it will be worse. I have a feeling as you do, that they will do nothing about it, since BCV guest will use the BC bus stop, it won't even be an additional stop for the driver, just more people.

Will have no effect on us.....No. 1, we don't worry about things that haven't happened. No. 2....we always rent a car.....Good Luck

When we stayed at the BWI in May, we noticed as we left MK that S&D had their own bus separate from BC and BW. We took the S&D bus with standing room only because the BC & Bw bus hadn't came yet and there was a line of people waiting. This was at closing on Friday night of Memorial Day weekend and it was really crowded but I wondered if they are getting ready to separate these hotels permanently. Also at DD, they were separated too. I really liked this because you can choose which bus you want to take back to the Epcot resort area depending on which comes first and/or if you mind walking some when you get back to the hotels.

Well, No. 1, one of the points of my post is that Disney worried about SAB being overcrowded by poolhoppers after BCv opens which has not happened yet, so I was wondering where is similar concern about other areas of overcrowding when BCV opens.
No. 2-good for you, but many guests with a rental car feel that the bus to MK is preferable so they can avoid going thru the TTC.
No. 3 -this post reminds me of those who commented on the end of poolhopping by saying since they never poolhopped anyway, "who cares." Naturally, I suppose those who never stay on site could say the same about transportation and those who never go to WDW at all could say the same about all of these boards...I don't think that something has to affect every single person to be worthy of concern.

.....if Disney gave DVCers a better park pass discount, a rental car would be more affordable. ;) In these situations, Disney will not make any changes unless it affects their bottom line. ;)

Allow me to post this comment "first" ;) , I purchased 40 years of deluxe accomodations, not speedy bus trasportation or pool hopping -- those are just perks.

I purchased 40 years of deluxe Disney accomodations and one of the things they have always touted was a special part of those deluxe accomodations was Disney transportation...(in fact, I believe we actually partly pay for those buses with our dues-anyone know details on this?). I would add that the people paying for BWI, YC/BC and cash reservations for DVC resorts do expect a level of service that will not be met if they do nothing to improve the transportation at the Epcot resorts...so I suppose that bottom line will suffer if people book there less if they feel the experience is not up to previously expected Disney standards.

Since this subject is virtually the same as posted in May, thought maybe the answers then weren't adequate. As info, we consider TTC and the monorail and the ferry to be part of our experience...When we want to avoid them, we use valet parking at one of the Monorail resorts. As DVC members we stay on site more frequently than not during our four+ visits annually. And, paraphrasing, just because one person expresses an opinion doesn't mean it's worthy of discussion.

SAB is Stormalong Bay the pool at the Beach Club/Yacht Club and now Beach Club Villas resorts.

Well if it is just one person-you are right--there won't be a discussion and no one will post anything and the thread will die...your posting such comments just kick the thread up higher, so if you don't think a particular topic is worthy, perhaps just clicking onto other threads might be a better way to table the discussion...that is what I do when a topic does not concern or interest me....I do appreciate that not everyone is interested in the same things, and have enjoyed hearing others take on this...Unfortunately, I won't be home until January, so if anyone can take note of the state of transportation and report back here so we can be reassured or motivated to complain, please let those of us concerned know....

I think the bus transporation at BWV was a problem before, it will only be worse with BCV opening if they don't make some changes. By time the bus gets to BWV, it's almost always pretty full. Then on the way back, it stops at Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC and then finally BWV. We used the bus to MVMCP last year, it was midnight and we were too tired to walk from the Swan so we sat through all the stops, thought we'd never get there! That's why we almost always use the rental car when staying at BWV, other than Epcot and MGM. I don't think BCV will make much of a difference on the Epcot boat, it wouldn't make much sense to take the boat when walking to Epcot is just as close as the YC/BC dock from BCV. It may make a little difference in the MGM boat. I would be interested to hear reports from visitors when they come back starting next week too.

In 2002, BWV members will pay $863,834.00 for cost of WDW transportation provided by the resort (from DVC MC Operating Budget that I got in the mail).

BCV charge will be different but if they charge for it, they should provide the service.

I am worried about the restaurant situation. We stayed at YC in June. Beaches & Cream was mobbed at night. Hurricane Hanna's closes at 6pm. There isn't any place to grab a quick bite:(

If you want good bus service, stay at a value or moderate resort. General feeling from reading many threads is that they get better bus service. I'm not aware of any value or moderates that share buses with other resorts.

We were at BWV from Thursday thru Thursday overlapping Memorial Day weekend. This was the first time we had ever used the transportation. Had 9 family members there and simply not practical to use the car. Anyway, I was expecting the worst and was amazed. Walked out to grab a bus to MK, waited maybe 15 minutes, hopped on a bus and was at MK in 10 minutes - and practically up to the gate, at that!

DH and I left MK around 5 PM, stepped on to the waiting bus and arrived back at BWV within 15-20 minutes. Sure, we rolled past BC/YC for stops, but bus wasn't overcrowded and the ride was pleasant. Definitely more pleasant than jockeying a car in and out of parking lots. We actually kicked ourselves for not using buses before - very easy, comfortable and stress free. After that experience we used buses throughout most of the remainder of our vacation, both to and from BWV and later OKW.

I know it was a very busy weekend. Could they have added bus capacity or efficiency since some of you were there?

Yes, I would expect that if they charge for transportaion that will mean they are providing more transportation...if they leave everything else the same, the cost of transportation to BWV owners should go down with the same cost spread over more people...

Maybe I'm also in the minority, but during our DVC stay last June we never had any bus issues, except putting my kids on a moving bus at night puts them right to sleep!! I am hoping things go as well this time, esp. with my parents with us.
