We are heading back to the world, are DVC members, and have stayed many locations. We are thinking BCV, but I have read conflicting opinions on the condition of the rooms. I understand that they may be in need of some maintenance, but I guess my biggest question is…are they clean. I can deal with some chipped paint and worn carpets, but do you feel they are clean and worth it?

Interesting! I am looking at booking BCV for late September. I hope it is super nice for the price...

My sister is borderline OCD and thoroughly inspects each hotel room for cleanliness. We've stayed at BCV a few times and she's been very happy with the cleanliness. We did experience the chipped paint and a water-stained ceiling, but we love staying there.

Thanks! I can deal with needing rehab, but I too am a little on the OCD side, and just need to feel that the room is clean. We have to children, DS 7 and DD 5, and we think that the pool is going to be the selling point.

I don't think that BCV has any cleaning issues that the other resorts don't have. Over the years we have had room issues at all of the DVC resorts.

Because I've heard reports from people, I studied BCV with a VERY critical eye on my last stay. It was fine (except outside from birds-can't control that). One time a few years ago, I had a very tired, old-looking room. I tracked down the director of engineering (I think that was his title) and told him that if they sold that as used furniture on Ebay, I'd return it it was so bad! Well, coincidently I got the very same room a year or two later-this time the room was all spiffy-clean with new furniture and well-painted walls. I've got no complaints with BCV.

Just an aside. Your kids are both excellent swimmers, right? Stormalong Bay is not very good for younger kids who aren't excellent swimmers unless you are going to be right next to them the entire time. There are deep areas, 8' or more, and swift currents in some areas. And you don't know they are there until you find yourself in them.

Plus it is so spread out, it's hard to watch kids if you aren't right by their side.

The pool is amazing. Something about the sand at the bottom... But it can be tricky with younger kids. It's great if they're content to stay on the sandy/shallow side. Last time we were there, the kids' meals at the poolside restaurant came in pails with shovels for the kids to use at the pool. Nice touch =)

Yes, I have read this several places, and we have waited until they have had enough swimming experience under their belts. I actually signed them up for a swim lesson refresher in the spring before we go for that reason. Thank you!

It's one of our favorite places. I have not told the girls that I switched our next trip to there just so they would be surprised.

well - just stayed there last week for a night after 3 at saratoga springs…was traveling with my sis who hasn't been to disney that much and looking at the forecast though the pool would be neat. Gotta say - got a very tired rm - she was okay with it but I was disappointed. can't wait for the rehab - mind you, everything was clean but for what we pay in fees etc upkeep could be better. Older and not current style okay, but for example, doors that are unevenly hung on the cabinets is just a maintenance issue….of course we spent more time in the rm than planned and didn't get to use the main pool due to the really cold weather but…with DVC, not expecting the Ritz but better than what we had…That said - SS was great - got lucky with the buses ;-) If pool is key - take a chance on BC, just have the right expectations of rm condition.

When you find a problem, notify the right people. JHousekeeping or Maintenance. And you can follow up with an email to Member Satisfacation with the villa number and the problem to make sure it gets fixed.
