We are a BWV Family and have never stayed at BCV before. I am getting a little concerned by some of the posts I have been reading about the condition of some of the rooms at BCV. Are they that bad? I convinced a friend to switch from BWV and join us as well and now I am getting worried! Will she be terribly dissappointed?

Are they dingy and beaten up or what? I read something about rugs in bad condition....what else?

We are really not the fussy type - but Do they honor your reqest to switch if need be?

I am so looking forward to our trip and having Storm Aloong Bay at our disposal ..........please help me with what to expect. Thanks!

I wasn't disappointed - this is a beautiful resort.

my room was not perfect - the airconditioner had noise problems -but the staff fixed it.

if you find something wrong with your room - they will fix it - only if they can't fix it will you be offered another room.

this resort is constantly full (so it is hard to do service work) - so be happy - and definitely enjoy SALB

remember the maids don't speak english (the job doesn't pay enough for english speaking to apply) - so they will not tell maintence/engineering anything - you have to report the problem - no matter how minor.

remembering you are not only reporting for yourself but those members who will get the room after you leave. So report everything no matter how minor.....

alot of the complaints have been about the staff - the staff is WDW not DVC - so sometimes the CM can be less than friendly (this is also know to happen at VWL - for the same reason)

The Beach Club, including the Villas, is one of the highest rated resort destinations in the world. People who own there can be very picky. Please do not worry one more minute about your trip. It will be wonderful.

I just spent a wonderful week in a perfect 1br immacuately clean , pristinely painted and no furniture peeling villa.

I routinely bring my own cleaning supplies because im just like that, and I did not have to use it. It was immaculate.

I have had a room with a peeling coffee table in the past and its no big deal, its wear and tear, and when they purchased the furniture, they probably just made a bad choice. they need to get stuff that can stand up to the kids that routinely vacation is such places. (soda spills will peel finish )

You will have a glorious week. I am a bwv owner and fan too, and to tell youthe truth I cannot decide which is my favorite. They are both great.

I have had issues with bwv not being cleaned properly, and had it promptly taken care of. The issues you read about are universal to the disney resorts. Sometimes things just arent perfect.

Thankfully most of the time they are!!!

A recent poll done by Granny, the post above shaking his head in agreement showed that only 1/3 of the people answering the poll found their room to be in excellent condition, excellent condition is what these rooms should be at the cost of $300 to a $1000 for a 2 bedroom. The problem with a lot of people that post here is that they believe anything less is ok, when of course it is not. I would not stay there ever. Sorry!

When reading room reports just remember: One out of 7 dwarfs is grumpy.

You will have a wonderful time, try not to worry. Our room was not quite what I thought it should be and was able to switch rooms. Please do not let it bother you, if you do encounter a problem they will do their best to make it right. As spiceycat pointed out the maids do not speak English, so if you do have a problem, please contact either the front desk or engineering/maintenance. It is a great resort with a wonderful location and SAB is the best in my opinion.

Remember that BCV is not a $30 a night motel - it is a deluxe resort and it is only 2 years old.

And for all we know, the less than excellent voters in that poll (that could have been stacked by anyone who wanted to sway the vote), could have been complaining because the toilet paper roll was on backwards.

You don't need to worry.

People tend to report only the bad.

I own there and have stayed there. We have always had first class treatment and excellent rooms. Have a great trip.

After reading all of the BCV threads lately, I've decided to book cousin LouElla and the 10 young 'uns into an OKW studio next trip.

Seriously, go to BCV. As one who has actually stayed there multiple times and can speak from personal experience, you will have a great time! The sky is not falling...

Good luck!

I thought our rooms at the BCV for all of our trips including this past May were in better condition than our room last October at BWV. And the room at BWV was fine just showing a little more wear and tear. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

I went and found Granny's poll just to point out a couple of important nuances in the poll.

The link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=619480

The facts of the poll:

For room condition satisfaction

Room condition is always excellent 53 votes, 35%
Room condition usually very good with some minor issues 78 votes, 52%
Room condition has been unacceptable at least once 19 votes. 13%

That's 87% saying excellent or MINOR issues. Not MAJOR issues. MINOR ones. Not bad for a new resort in my opinion. Give them time to bring that number up.

Overall Satisfaction

Overall satisfaction with BCV is outstanding 95 votes, 64%
Overall satisfaction with BCV is so so, no major complaints 32 votes, 21%
Overall satisfaction with BCV is not as good as it should be 22 votes 15%

So outstanding or NO MAJOR complaints total 85% And oustanding overall satisfaction percentage is higher than the room excellent percentage. That should tell us that most people voting in the poll - despite having some minor issues with the room - still rate overall satisfaction as outstanding.

And remember - some of the biggest complainers - have never actually stayed there.

I own at BCV and have stayed there many times and will continue to do so. I love the place!

As far as Granny's poll goes, I did answer the 1 question with:

Room condition usually very good with some minor issues

But my minor issues were a light bulb burnt out or a broom missing when we got there. All of these things were taken care of really quickly with a call to engineering or housekeeping.

I did answer that my Overall satisfaction with BCV is outstanding which is completly true. I don't know why there are a few people around here that continue to put down this resort at every opportunity. You will notice after reading these boards for awhile that you just have to read between the lines with some of these posts.

I have always been happy with BCV.

I have a 2BR booked next spring break to bring daughter and her family. Can't wait:hyper:

Don;t worry about it! We came back this summer froma 9 day stay at BCV. Room 322. I too was worried about the rooms from hearing all of the horror stories here. We loved it! THe room was great. We were able to see Illuminations EVERY night! The room was clean and QUIET!!!!!!! Staying in many of the other online WDW resorts, I noticed how quiet this one was from all the others I stayed in. You couldn't hear the people above you. An occasional quiet toilet flush but that was about it.

The staff was very friendly and the maids do speak english. We got our room cleaned every day for the first 3 days we were there and then we just have the regualr trash and towel day etc.

The only thing I noticed was the floor of the elevator looked very worn while the elevator in the main BC building was lined in marble or granite. Interesting.

So don't worry and go enjoy yourself.

Have fun!

Mark

Just to follow up on TerryS response, my "minor issues" included some missing silver and bowls, and a patch of carpet coming loose in one spot. Other than that, wonderful!

This made me laugh. Our BCV maid spoke English very well, with what I think was a Cuban accent. She met us at the door as we were coming out of our room in May. All three of our girls filed out, then me, then DH. She looked at DH and said "Where is the boy?" DH and I laughed and he replied" It's just me and the girls!" She then proceeded to tell us that we really needed to have a boy, because who was going to take care of all these girls when they get older, and protect them, and defend them at school, and ..... It was pretty funny! We kept walking to the elevator, and she was still just rattling on!

Anyway, don't worry too much about your stay. Ours at BCV was pretty bad, but it doesn't mean that I won't ever try to stay there again. We had lots of issues with our room, just luck of the draw I guess, better luck for us next time. Go and see for yourself. The pool is awesome, and every resort has some complaints, although, BCV is the only one that we personally have experienced problems with, hopefully you will have a better experience. If it's not up to par, ask for a new room immediately, thats what I wish I would have done, rather than wasting my vacation time dealing with housekeeping issues. Of course my new room might not have been nonsmoking, 5th floor, Illuminations view like the studio we had. You win some, you lose some!
