BCV or POFQ?

This is our family's first trip to WDW. It will be November 11-17. It is my husband, myself, son (6) and daughter (4). The two options I am looking at:

1. Renting points and staying in a studio at BCV. Interested in this b/c of pool and ability to walk to Epcot. Not sure how weather is in November. I have also heard that the transportation is better here. If I book this, I will be unable to change/cancel reservation if a good promotion occurs.

2. Staying at the POFQ. Perhaps, upgrade to a deluxe if a good promotion occurs before our trip. Like the size and theme (used to live in NOLA). Also, the pool looks nice.

I would appreciate any feedback. What ya'll thought of transportation, food, rooms at these resorts.

Thanks in advance! I am new to the boards and have been enjoying reading all of your advice.

We stayed at POFQ a few times before we tried the BCV. Hands down we'd pick staying at BCV over POFQ. Not so say we wouldn't return to POFQ, because we would if we were looking to save money or if going in Dec./Jan and would find using the pool questionable -- and therefore, hard to justify the added expense.

That said, it might not be too much more to stay at BCV on points versus a room at POFQ, which has been known not to offer as big of a discount lately. Smaller resort, less rooms to fill.

Also, at this stage, you might not be able to secure a room at BCV. It is 8 months out, but BCV owners were already booking at 11 months out and all others at 9 months out. BCV is quite popular -- for the reasons you are looking to stay there as well! -- and one of the smaller DVC resorts so it books quickly.

Kids your age would be fine at either resort. The pool at POFQ is nice, but not very big. The slide actually isn't too long (nothing like at BC!), but a good starter slide. You can also use the facilities at POR which makes it nice to try out both.

Have a wonderful time at Disney no matter where you end up!

Yes, I am worried that it is too late to rent points for the BCV. I just learned about this program this week. I have been debating whether to take the leap and see if any are available when we are going. I should probably just do it but I am cautious by nature....

Some things about DVC points stays. If you stay seven nights or less, you will only get your towels replaced and trash removed on day four. No other service. If you stay eight nights or more, you will get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day eight. You can't just request extra towels or shampoo and other supplies. DVC members have to pay for any extras. Since you would be on a DVC reservation, you will be treated like a DVC member. A studio would get you four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths.

At POFQ now and have stayed at BCV as DVC owners. No comparison--hands down, I'd choose BCV. But I doubt you'll find a reservation to rent there in November if Food and Wine is still going on--I'm not sure of the dates.

I would agree with all the above posters. We've stayed at both, and we'll be returning to the FQ this summer to see the new rooms. If you can swing it and catch the dates, I'd be all over the BCV. Not only is the access to EPCOT and DHS so easy, but with 2 little ones (been there-done that), you might be surprised how quickly they tire, and your resort, should you be at one of the above, would be minutes away. In addition to that Stromalong Bay is THE traditionally top ranked pool in WDW. You'll be by the Boardwalk for some shopping, a stroll and maybe a nice variety of snacks. It's just a nice and busy area that caters to children and adults alike.

IF you can't pull it off, FQ, to me, is the best of the moderates. It's small, and it offers something other than bus rides to everyplace. You can jump on a boat for DTD, and then catch another one to EPCOT. It's quiet, and enjoyable, and the pool has a slide.

Either way, you'll have a great time,

Andy

Thanks so much to all of you for your help. I looked up the dates of the Epcot Wine and Food Festival and we would overlap one day(Nov 11). But I could always change our plans to Nov 12-18 to get BCV. If it doesn't happen, I am sure we would be ok w/the other.
