BCV or BWV for a resale?

I've always been intrigued by DVC, and the second it becomes financially feasible for me I am interested in buying a resale. Now my big question is should I buy BCV or BWV?

I've only seen each resort from the outside, so my opinions aren't very well formed. That's why I'm asking here for some more well informed advice.

I love the Epcot area, so it's between those two. I love Storm Along Bay, but BCV looks kind of stuck back in the corner, like an afterthought that wasn't all that well thought out.

BWV looks like a lot of fun, but the pool isn't as spectacular. I do like a good pool. Plus going down the canal to MGM it looks like BVW is really spread out. Is that a problem?

I would love to hear what all of you experienced owners have to say. Especialy those of you who have stayed at both. TIA!

We own at both resorts. SAB is the best pool on properti (mi whi is out on mi keeboard). But the Boardwalk area is great to be close too - especialli the Board Walk Bakeri. It's a tough decision. Just write down pros and cons of both and see what happens!

We thought a lot about this decision too and are currently at Disney for ROFR on a BCV contract. In the long run, I figured that we would be happiest at BCV for the pool -- but both resorts are great. We stayed at the Yacht Club once so I have "played" in SAB and loved it! Both resorts are close to the Boardwalk and Epcot, but with BCV it seems as though you can get away to peace and quiet.

You could always buy both. If you are set on one buy there. Remember that BWV is likely to be a little cheaper and that it is less points for some of the room options (standard view). Plus being older and larger, there are likely to be more contracts. You could always let price and availability be your final determining factor but that makes it likely to be BWV.

We like them both and have points at both.

BCV has Stormalong Bay pool.

BWV has the standard view points option and I love the landscaping (roses, beautiful trees, etc.) around the resort.

I chose BWV(just purchased last month) because it can be cheaper in points, or you can pay the same as BCV but get a great view(BCV doesn't have great views, just some good ones).

You can do 7 nights in a studio/1 Bedroom at BWV for as cheap as 85/162 points, while BCV would cost 104/200 points. Just something to think about(we could only afford 150 points right now).

Its also better positioned for walking to both Epcot and MGM, while BCV is closer to Epcot, but its a fair distance to MGM.

Of course I'm staying at BCV for a night in 3 weeks so I can use SAB.

You can't go wrong with either.

Because you mention the importance of the pool I thing you should go with BCV. BCV gives you the best of both worlds, you can enjoy everthing at the BW, but if you own at BWV you can not use SAB.

Well, actually you can but you just have to wait and book BCV at 7 months.

If you "like a good pool" SAB is as good as it gets.

If you like a good view BWV is fantastic.

The great thing about these two resorts is you can't make a bad decision.

I wouldn't worry about that at all. BCV was, in fact, an afterthought of sorts. So was VWL but both are true to the "parent" resort's theming and I wouldn't let that bother you one bit. I disagree that it wasn't well thought out. To me, it looks like a natural extension of the Beach Club.

As you mention, both have good pools, but SAB is generally recognized to be the best pool at a WDW resort. If pools are really important to you, then BCV might be your best choice.

It sounds like you are not ready to jump into the purchase right now, so I'd suggest renting points for your next trip and staying at each place. The ambiance, to me, is quite different for each resort and you might find one that you just feel more comfortable with. To us, that's much more important than any other consideration between the two resorts.

Dizzy4Disney -- OMG too funny!!! And the stupid thing is that in my head I read your whole post like you had a speech impediment. Duh... sometimes I think I'm a bit nuts, or dizzy, as the case may be!

We were interested in both BCV and BWV when buying our resales and basically the market dictated our decision. BCV is a smaller resort with fewer rooms so there are fewer resales on the market. The entire time we were looking for a resale we didn't see one come up for sale at BCV that had the amount of points we were looking for (small amount). We have since bought 2 resales at BWV and have not at all been disappointed. As Ken has mentioned, you can get more for your $ there by booking a standard view room and saving points. This is not an option at BCV. It is near impossible to book a standard view room if you are not a BWV owner because by the 7 month window, they tend to be sold out (as are boardwalk view rooms which are very popular). We also have found it difficult to book at BCV though because it is just a smaller resort with fewer rooms. No luck so far, but we haven't been camping by the phone 7 months out to make sure we get a ressie either.

I'd recommend that you take one more trip. You could stay at either hotel or rent points at either villa. Just make a point of crawling through both places. After that, if points or pool or location haven't made the decision for you, just follow your heart. This is a lifetime of vacations, not a bond purchase, so it's important for you to allow for the intangible feelings that each resort gives you. Among all the feature/benefit lists and financial calculations, leave room for your heart to have a say.

This isn't the first time this debate has come up on this board. Every time, it seems that Boardwalk's pool takes a bad rap. The pool at BWV is very nice. SAB is a wonderful pool, but don't let anyone convince you that Luna Park is a bad pool.

Exactly. There was a poll where SAB finished first, but BWV was second.

BWV has an awesome waterslide. Additionally many prefer the BWV pool because its easier to keep on eye on kids, and no sand to clean off after you are done.

You should also ask yourself how often you plan to go to the waterparks. If never, than using SAB as your mini-waterpark is a good idea. But if you plan on going to waterparks once or twice, than SAB might not have the same importance.

Since I'm buying park hopper plusses, those plusses need to be used on something.

We own at both. They are both great resorts and for us their locations can not be beat. I agree with the others who have advised you to take a look see and then make your decision.
