Is the BCV having an open house unit for members to just drop by, much like WLV did? If so does anyone know the room number and hours? We'll be down this weekend staying at HRH before our $99 Universal Passes expire and thought we'd wonder over and see BCV after it's opened and have dinner at Yachtsman steakhouse (which we've never tried).

Is the BCV having an open house unit for members to just drop by...
And furthermore, are they still giving out the BCV pin to members that drop by the model unit?

The model is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. There's a CM at a desk located inside the BCV who will direct you to it's location.

As far as the pin is concerned, it's hit or miss. Sometimes they have them, and sometimes they don't.

We received a BCV pin on our trip in December. You just have to sign a sheet with your member #.

I think the model is room 108. As you enter the main entrance, the DVC kiosk is immediately to the left and the hallway to left leads to the model room. There is a little sign posted in the hallway while the model is open (and the door will also be open).

Enjoy dinner at the Yachtsman! :)

We visited the Open House last Sunday. They were open until 5:00. We got the pin. There were two other couples there and they were both DVC members at BWV. One couple also owned at OKW. I think, like Doc said, it's suite 108.

We like that they moved the lockoff door up to the front. It provided more room in the living area. But then you lose that closet up front where we would store our suitcases, stroller, etc.

My wife seems to think the closet in the main bath area is smaller, too.

We also got a pin on 12/28, toured the unit while we waited for our room to be ready. Dean- we ate at Yachtsman as well- FWIW I felt it was very overpriced for what you got. We love California Grill, the French restaurants, etc, so I have to preface that we are serious foodies. Yachtsman was just a plain steak and potaotes- nothing interesting and wine is really overpriced. Tried Spoodles for the first time and it was excellent- although service was lacking.

I also visited the BCV model on Dec. 31, and got my pin. Wanted to get an idea of the new digs before staying there next week. I was impressed! :D

On our trip in December, we went to Yachtsman. We have been there in the past, with lukewarm reviews. We decided that since Disney moves chefs around often, and the menu did sound good, why not try it again. Well, never again, I am sure! For my husband, myself, and my 8 1/2 yo son, our bill was over $200! Now we love to eat out and if the meal is worth it, we will pay. My filet was over $30 and not at all tasty. I buy better filets at my local grocer! In fact, my husband and I decided that some of our favorites lacked "something" this time. It makes us think harder where we will be eating when we return in April!

My DW and I thoroughly enjoyed the Yachtsman when we were at YC for our honeymoon. I especially enjoyed the sauteed mushroom side. I will agree that it is overpriced, but then again what isn't overpriced anywhere in Disney?

I mean even the fast food is much more expensive than what you can find it for at home. It's just a part of the experience.

BTW Chip, looks like you and I are neighbors!! I'm from Tinley Park.

I agree everything is overpriced at Disney but value for quality is not there at Yachtsman. Our bill was similar to chips and we had no dessert and shared an appetizer. As steakhouses go, it doesn't come close to Mortons or Ruth Chris'. If i'm going to spend that a amount of money, I'd spend it at California Grill- we actually spent less/person there and had a much better meal. Well Dean, now you'll have to try it so you can get your 2 cents in;)

Thanks all, I've heard mostly good things about Yachtsman (until now) and since we're bascially driving in for the dinner and to tour around BCV and BW maybe, we'll still try it. At least it still has the 10% DVC discount and is on the Disney Dining Experience list for 20% off. I'll make sure to ask for a pin. Thanks again.

Hello in Tinley Park!

For us a big part of our WDW experience is eating out. We always have PS at our favorites and never mind the price when the meal is deserving of it. My point is that at Yachtsman, it was not.

We also ate at Flying Fish, California Grill, Narcoosees and others on this trip. I don't have an issue with paying for a meal when the flavor and enjoyment is there.

I still stand by what I said--I believe even with the 10% off for DVC members, Yachtsman should not be charging what they do for what they serve.

We went through the model when we went for our sales talk last October. Now that we're in, I suppose it will be different going back. Do all of the DVC properties have models to show off? I wouldn't mind getting a tour of all of them so I know where we want to try next trip.

Saw BC today and it's gorgeous as expected. The views and road location are still a negative IMO but it's definitely a nice property. Did eat at Yachtsman and very much enjoyed it.

Were you able to get the pin Dean? Glad you had a nice dinner at the Yachtsman.

My understanding is that you can also get a great steak at the Dolphin at a better price..

I think DVC members get a 20% discount at the Swan and Dolphin..... We haven't been to the Swan and Dolphin in ages, but DH loves the restuarants there.

-DC :)
