We went to an open house last week at SSR and are ready to buy. We were doing our numbers and deciding when we would be most likely to travel. One quick question.. How difficult will it be to book a studio or a 1 bedroom at BCV during the last week of May? The current offer at SSR is very attractive, but, if booking BCV or BWV during the last week of May will be difficult, we will probably buy a resale and pay the $1500-$2000 difference.

A good rule of thumb: Don't buy a real estate interest in a property you have no desire to use.

I agree with rinkwide's statement. However, I personally have had success getting a studio in BCV during the last week in May ('05), using BWV points, I "gave up" a Boardwalk studio view for BCV.

Lots of people in their 20 -30s mention the extra years as being the factor in their buying SSR. I can understand that, but there are so many times that people on waitlist threads are asking for Pixie Dust to get into BCV, VWL, BWV to give their vacation extra MAGIC! I truly don't remember any threads asking for Pixie dust to get into SSR. SSR is large, but if it's not giving you the Magic feeling, why buy there? OK, it's a business decision, cheaper...more years, your resale will have more years left should you sell in 2025. We're empty nesters, we're enjoying WDW the way we like it!

I just called last week looking for a BCV studio the second week of May. There were no studios, but there were 1 BRs available.

Another thing you can try...If you are buying direct from DVC, you can make ressies as soon as you pay your deposit. BUT, you have a ten-day recision period under Florida law, and Disney gave us 14 days on our add on last year. You could make your deposit, and if you find you can't get what you want, you can always rescind your purchase.

The other thing to remember, of course, is that DVC is a very long term proposition. If you can't get what you want today, at six months, you might be able to get it in future years.

I also agree you should not buy someplace you don't want to stay, but I did not read your OP that way. If you really intend to stay at one of the Epcot resorts most of the time, you'd do well to buy one of them. BCV in particular is not going to get any easier to book in the seven month window going forward.

Well, I didn't know that we could make a reservation as soon as we gave the deposit. That is great news!! Our first DVC stay was last week at OKW and we loved it, so, if the worst that can happen is that we have to stay at OKW or SSR we will be happy. As far as that week in May, we are pretty flexible and can also go during June. We just want to spend a couple of days at SAB. We will be calling our guide on Wednesday to make our deposit, so, I will try to make our reservation. Wish us luck!! Thanks everyone and JimMIA you were a great help from the moment we started to consider purchasing DVC :yay:

I just switched at the 7 month mark for the first week of June . Studios' were avail everywhere but BWV standard view

The last week of May, first week of June is a pretty good time to travel.

Points are not cheap enough to make it a travel priority for DVC members (the very low point times, like January and the first part of December, tend to be extremely busy). Many schools are not only still in session, but are just finishing up all the testing/end of year parties/graduations/field day/award ceremony stuff that families do not want to miss. We stayed at the Swan last year and the boat shared with YC/BW had, maybe, 15 people total on it in the morning. We walked around the BW that evening (even during evening EMH at Epcot) and the crowd was still very light.

If this is your target travel time each year, you should not have trouble getting to try different resorts at 7 months. Since you are a little past the 7 month window now, you may have to waitlist - but you can make a back-up reservation elsewhere and ask them to automatically switch if your waitlist becomes available.

Compared to the cost of one WDW vacation, $1500 isn't that much, particularly when it's spread out over the life of your timeshare. We bought into BCV because that's where we want to stay most often.

DH and I just stayed at BCV for the 1st time and are in love. I was able to book mid-May (the week before Memorial day) just a couple of weeks ago no problem. We were also able to get the 1st week in Oct at the 7 month window but if it started to get harder I would consider an add on.

Should be able to get BCV, if not try BWV better views.

I was able to switch to BCV for last May (I had BWV booked) and I think I changed it in Nov. I had no problem at all getting a 1 bedroom. Good luck to you and let us know how you make out!

 We were able to get 2 studios for the nights I wanted!!!

I love my DVC!!!

I'm off to plan our next vacation..LOL
