Way back in 2010 we spent our year traveling to Russia for the adoption of our amazing little boy! So, the long and short of it is that we banked our 2010 DVC points and made two DVC trips in 2011. We then banked our Wyndham points into RCI and have two great weeks planned for Orlando this year, but we check out of week one on Saturday and into the second week on Sunday. Knowing we will miss our DVC those two weeks, I was able to get a studio at BCV for that night to at least get a bit of a DVC fix!

So our plan is to spend our time at Stormalong Bay. This will be our first BCV stay and I'm sure our boys will love it! So what do we need to know?

  • Any requests we should submit for room location?
  • How late is Stormalong Bay open?
  • We are thinking about getting the quick service dining plan to get mugs for our stay at Stormalong Bay. Are there drink dispensers near the pool?
  • Are there good quick dining locations at or near the resort? We are open to going to EPCOT Center for meals, but only if necessary.

Thanks so much for your help!

Spending only one night at BCV, bring your swim suits so you can get to Stormalong Bay as soon as you arrive. If you are going in the summer, the chairs around the pool will go quickly. The chairs around the whole complex are usually all taken around 2. Plan accordingly!

Places to eat at Beach Club: Hurricane Hannas at the pool and will refill your mugs. Beaches and Cream is right next to the pool and provides a good hamburg/hot dogs/salads menu and really good ice cream sundaes such as "No Way Jose" our favorite. Seating is very limited but you can have mugs refilled there in take out line. Beach Club Marketplace has take out food and you mug refill is self serve. Boardwalk is on the other side of the lake with eating options for supper. ESPN Club is casual dinning and there is a pizza carryout along with some concession stands on the boardwalk.

Going to Epcot is close but if you are only going just to eat it will be a long walk unless you are going just to UK for fish and chips. Plus to get in would require ticket so unless you have annual pass wouldn't be a wise use of ticket.

For one day you could have a great time at the pool, Boardwalk, and the beach at night for a movie and bonfire. So much to do in this area!

Room location? There really aren't very good views. Maybe ask for something close to Beach Club to cut down on your walk to Stormalong Bay.

Sounds like a wonderful vacation!:goodvibes

Thanks for the GREAT tips caskar! We do have annual passes, so Epcot is not out of the question, but I really like the idea of staying at the resort for our entire time since we only have one night. Love the idea of a movie and bonfire on the beach.
