I called about BCV and DVC will give you 2009 points for Aug, Sept, & Oct & Dec use years with no maintenance fees on 2009 points and discounted 2010 maintenance fees. But yep, no discount on $115/point, Resale is selling around $80-85/point.
oops. Wrong answer.
EEEEKKKKK I better keep my eyes open for a resale contract! Just curious....what kind of a discount on maintenance fees for 2010?
Thanks
Maintenance fees from DVC are always based on calendar year. If you purchase tomorrow your 2010 fees will be prorated from that date for the year. If your UY is Aug-Dec then you would receive current year points that would be 2009 points. Since 2009 calendar year is over you would not have any dues to pay on those points and your 2010 would be prorated as I described above. It is always this way unless you are purchasing at a resort that is not open. Then dues calculations are based on opening date of the resort or on the start of your UY - whichever is later.
I have an Oct UY. If I would purchase an add on in August or September, do you know if Disney would allow me to bank the 2009 points since it would be past the banking window?

Yes they will. You just need to call MS after you have received your points in your account and tell them that you purchased an add on and need to bank the points. They make exceptions when it's a new purchase but it would need to be done prior to Oct 1st.
Just be aware that if you wait until just before the end of your UY, they may run out of 2009 points, particularly at resorts like BCV. This has happened to a couple of people who tried to optimize things by waiting until the last week or two of their UY to minimize the pro-rated dues for the current year.I have an Oct UY. It would be helpful to find out how many points they have in your UY. I don't know what it's like now but there have been times in the past when people had to go on a waiting list to add on at BCV, sometimes for weeks or months but in some cases it was as long as a year.Good point Lisa! I guess I better get in touch with my guide sooner than later.
