BCV and BWV - Ded 2BR or Lockoffs?

We are planning a trip in May '08 and would need a 2BR villa. We've never stayed at BCV and would love to try it if it's available at the 7 month mark (2nd choice BWV). We have stayed at BWV in the past but in a 1BR. Are the 2BR villas at these resorts all lockoffs or are some dedicated 2BR? We recently stayed at a Ded 2BR at SSR and it had a nice layout to it. Plus the extra BR had 2 queen beds (ded) instead of 1 bed and a pullout sofa (lockoff).

Thanks for any responses

All BWV two bedroom villas are lock offs. There are no dedicated two bedrooms at BWV.

At BCV there are dedicated two bedrooms, but not all dedicated two bedrooms at BCV have two queen beds in the second bedroom. Some have one queen and one double sleeper sofa.

The 2Q dedicated rooms are a separate booking category. You can requst them when you book - but there aren't a lot of them so they may all be gone at the 7 month mark.

Oh, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the sofas in the non-2Q DCV dedicated are queen pull outs, not double.

There are dedicated two bedroom villas at BCV but because of some misstake made in their design only 1/3 of them have two queen beds. The rest have a queen and a queen pull out sofa (which I hear are newly replaced). Therefore BCV has different reservable room types for the 2 bedrooms (similar to BW view), so be sure to specifically ask for the room type you want.

Here are the numbers...

~25 Dedicated 2 bedroom w/2Q's
~53 Dedicated 2 bedroom w/Queen and queen sleeper sofa
74 Lock-off 2 bedroom
20 Dedicated 1 bedroom
36 Dedicated studios

A great website for BCV was put together by a DISer, Diszip...

Thanks for all of the info! I know I can't call to make the reservations for another month or so, but I'm glad that I asked so I can be as informed as possible. Thanks, too, for the link to the BCV site.:)

I will definitely ask for the Ded. 2BR w/ the 2 queen beds first. If it happens to be available....would that be a "guaranteed booking" or am I simply making a request in MS's eyes?

It is a guaranteed booking. We have one for Easter.

We had a 2BR with 1Q & a sofabed in the 2nd bedroom this past June. We tried for the 2Q room, but at 7 mos. were unable to get it. It was not big deal for us because we were just putting the 3 kids in that room, but we found that the sofabed was quite comfortable and very easy to pull out and put away. It was the new style of sofabed. So I wouldn't be too worried about it if you could only get that type of room. It was not that much of a pain to pull it out and put it away each morning.

Also at the BCV, there are different layouts for the dedicated units. Most have the same layout as SSR, that when you enter the door you are in a foyer and the second bedroom is entered from there.

However at BCV there are some dedicated 2 bedrooms that the second bedroom door is in the living room near the sliding door to the patio/balcony. I do not like these rooms.

I think when I looked at the BCV 2BR's on the DVC Member website (you know, the 360' tour) it shows this layout with the door in the living room. It took me a few seconds before I could figure out just exactly where the 2nd BR was!:) I like the setup of the ded 2BR we stayed in at SSR, it has the little foyer area like you also mentioned. It was convenient to park our stroller, leave our "park backpack"; it had an entry table where we'd drop our baseball hats, sunglasses, etc. It was quick in the morning to just grab everything on the way out the door. Plus we didn't have to look at it all while we were in the living area.

Knowing all this is definitely a "heads up" for planning. We've been wanting to try BCV and, as some have mentioned, the ded.2BR might be in short supply at 7 mos. We'd be happy to get any 2BR! But at least I'll know what to ask for first. If we are lucky enough to stay there in May, then we'd only have OKW left to try for the DVC resorts at WDW.

I'm thinking there may only be 10 of those 2 bedrooms with the door to the second bedroom in the living area. I know this is true for x34 and x54, both pool view dedicated rooms that are where the building bends making the door area impossible to connect to the entry area. I believe most two bedrooms have the doorway in the entry.

If anyone happens to stay in rooms 301 (courtyard) and 304 (pool) could you report back on if these rooms have 2 Queens in the second bedroom. Also rooms 334 and 354 also have a chance of being in this catagory.

Right now we have 24 rooms identified as the 2 Q rooms. If the theory hold true that the dedicated two bedrooms without a balcony door in the second bedroom are those able to have two beds, then 301 and 304 should also make the list. 334 and 354 are slightly different configuration so may or may not fit the rule as well.

Maybe on my solo trip in Dec. I'll track down the answer and end my quest for the 2Q rooms!
