BCV Alligator Captured This AM!

I recall hearing that about relocation when we wwere there on our honeymoon.

We were standing at the dock at MGM, waiting for the boat back to the BC. There was a small (about 2 ft. long)alligator lounging in the swampy, grassy area off to the side of the dock. The CM told us that "when he's big enough, he'll be relocated". They do keep them on WDW property according to that guy. Just an area where there aren't any guests.

I would agree that feeding an alligator is dangerous, as it does take away their fear of humans, and eventually, you might have that alligator looking at you through your 1st floor room's patio door!!!!

There really was a REAl alligator? I thought he was an on-going insider legend or an Imagineer's prototype!

We never saw the BCV guy but we did see the Tom Sawyer's Isle resident gator. I actually heard people saying that you can feed them, that's how they get their food!!! We were given a speech someplace (I can't remember where now) that there is a huge fine for 'alligator harrassement' in Florida, and that includes feeding them. Wish it was enforced!!

My real question is who got the great job of measuring the alligators?

*chomp!*

Rinkwide, you always make me giggle!!!

Sherri :)

Thanks for posting your account of that capture. I cannot imagine being faced with the task of gathering an alligator for relocation.

Okay, so once they get the thing (with its most dangerous parts wrapped up) into the truck... um, how exactly do they UNwrap it and let it go in its new home??? I mean, just how close does one have to be to the angry, frightened alligator's mouth to get it unwrapped???
:scared:  :scared: :scratchin

No trappers relocate gators in Florida. They sell them to be made into a handbag and shoes. Maybe with the Made at WDW on the side.

um, how exactly do they UNwrap it and let it go in its new home???

CAREFULLY, veery carefully.

Look closely at your new pair of shoes, purse or wallet. You might find a hidden Mickey!!

Hi There,

We saw him a few times and have him on film, He was neat and I told my nephews if they did not behave I would throw them in with the gator's. Being from Scotland, they did not believe me, then right on time he swam by. I would wish to say the boys behaved, they didn't.

It's the last time they are going on my points.

I'm so sad! I'm freaky I know, but I love Al E. Gator. He's a highlight of each of our trips. I even went out of my way to go to BCV in June (while staying at SSR) so I could see him. (I saw him.) :(

Melrosgirl, it makes me really sad too. It's hard to see an animal and "identify" with it and then hear it has been put down. Unfortunately, though, these animals could kill a child. When I imagine the grief of a parent who could have a child maimed or killed by a gator -- then killing the animal makes sense. I only posted what I did so people will take seriously the warnings not to feed these guys. Just a month or so ago a Florida woman was killed by a gator. It grabbed her while she was doing landscaping work by a pond and posters here said she reportedly died. What a tragedy!

Hi Everyone:wave:
We had posted a thread about 10 days ago ( when we returned from BCV ) stating that we had met allie for the first time!!
We sure hope that they relocate him ,even though he is said to be 5 or 6 ft.
We did notice @ that time, that the groundskeepers KNEW he was there, because, like the original poster said, they had long poles in the water,as if they were expectiing to capture it @ that time !:earseek:
Oh Well, At least Allie had another 10 days of Freedom!!!!;)
