Since there's so much contraversy on the room conditions at BCV right now I've decided to post a room report of my stay in a 2BR lock off with rooms 219/221 from 6/6-6/10. There were 6 of us on this trip including myself with my DGD9, two of her friends 7yo & 11yo, a friend of mine that I asked to join us and her 7yo DGD. This was my first time traveling with a larger group and especially 4 little girls.

We arrived at the BC at around 11am and there was no line at check in. Before I got to the desk, a young man CM approached me about filling in a diary during my stay. I talked to him briefly before I went to the check in desk. I had a friendly CM who welcomed me home right away. Check in went smoothly and our room was ready.

I didn't find anything unkept, in disrepair or dirty about the grounds or interior hallways, community rooms or otherwise.

As I said, we received rooms 219 & 221. It was near the elevator which had been one of my requests. These rooms looked out over the courtyard between BCV and BC and was above the walkway between the two. The view wasn't the best, but not bad and it was too hot that week to hang out on the balcony much anyway. As a matter of fact, I don't think we went out there at all the entire week except for when we first arrived.

We looked the room over and put away our groceries before heading out to the parks. I found everything to be in order with no cleanliness issues. There were a couple places on the table that had the finish missing and a small stain on a sofa cushion. Everything else seemed fine.

I made the master bedroom the girls room as I wanted to keep the mess that I knew would come to one area and I didn't want to watch cartoons all week. I didn't allow them to eat/drink in there as to prevent any accidents. I gave the studio portion to my friend and her DGD, but the DGD ended up sleeping with the rest of the girls in the MB. I took the sleeper sofa in the LR.

The sleeper sofa in the LR that I used was broken I think as when I folded it out it didn't come out evenly. That's the only way I know to describe it. It unfolded easily enough and I was able to use it, but you could tell something was wrong when I unfolded and folded it back up. It wasn't entirely uncomfortable, but not as good as a real bed. I didn't feel a bar or anything at least, I was just missing my bed at home. And I detest the pillows in these DVC units and will try to remember to bring my own from now on.

I cooked several breakfasts and lunches while there and found we had most everything we needed. It would've been nice to have an icemaker in the freezer though. The only thing we really needed and didn't have was a pitcher for tea/Koolaid. I don't have the kitchen inventory memorized so I didn't know if we were supposed to have one or not so I called housekeeping and was told that they're not available. We ended up using the pitcher from the studio's coffee maker for our tea pitcher and just made the Koolaid up as we went. I'll try to remember to bring my own pitcher next time too as I have to have a pitcher of tea a day.

My DGD and I found the trash room and ice machine on our first discovery excursion and I sent her and one of her friends to the trashroom with our trash several times during our stay. The ice machine on that floor was having issues and would only produce small amounts of melty ice. I reported this but it was this way the entire trip. Like I said, I would've liked to have an icemaker in the freezer.

We didn't really have a real trash/towel day. On the second day of our stay housekeeping knocked on the door and I couldn't understand a word this woman said even after asking her to repeat herself two times. I managed to get more towels and coffee from her. We were at the parks on the fourth day when I was expecting our trash/towel day but no one came. This was fine by us as we were taking trash to the trashroom and washing our own towels anyway. But I did leave what trash we had that morning instead of sending DGD to the trashroom because I was expecting trash/towel day. No biggie to take it ourselves.

As far as trash in the hallways, the only thing I saw was trash that was left in the hallway from our neighbors across the hall on one day. It was there in the morning but gone that afternoon. But, we didn't venture down hallways much as our room was the first as you enter the hallway.

SAB was closed due to broken pumps a couple days of our stay but was open in time for our scheduled pool day. This was our first visit to SAB and everyone enjoyed it very much.
I asked my DGD how she liked it and she said "Love it!" I can't wait to bring my new granddaughter to SAB and let her play and splash around in the sandbar shallow area when she's a little older.

Overall we had an excellent experience at BCV and I am so happy that BCV is my home resort. We love the location, SAB, the restaurants, the staff, and everything about it. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for the report. I am so glad you had a nice time. That is a shame they had to close SAB during your stay. I bet people were very dissappointed. Glad it did not bother your plans, though. It was so nice of you to take all those children. They must have had a blast!!:D

Thanks for the report. You must have been there when we were cause they were sending BC guests over to BW those days the SAB pump was broke.

Glad all was well, but that does irritate me a tad that nobody came for trash & towel day. Aren't we paying for that in our dues? I hate to add to all the recent negativity, but I expect the trash & towel day when we go next month.

What do you mean by the CM asked you to keep a diary?

Thanks!

Hi,

You sound like me with the pillows! I hate Disney pillows or anyone elses for that matter!!! I'm glad you had a good time. Sorry to hear that SAB was closed. Thanks for sharing!

What a nice person you are to give up your master bedroom for the girls. I am not so sure I could do that. Without a descent nights sleep, I am really cranky, and I am not so sure I would sleep well with light coming in. Maybe BCV doesn't have as much light as OKW has coming in thru those blinds.

Glad you had a nice stay and that your guests all loved it. I know that really adds to your own trip when your guests are having a good time.

Thanks for the great report! I enjoyed your dining report also;) You are so nice to give up the bed and sleep on the couch!! We are planning on taking my sis and her family with us in a few years in a 2 bedroom and I already stated don't even think of trying to get that master bedroom!!

Thanks for sharing!

It was some sort of survey diary thing that I was supposed to fill out every day regarding how much I was spending and tear the sheet out and put it in a box down in the lobby. There were to be different little trinket gifts everyday that I turned a page in and then they were going to send me a gift worth $25 when I got home. Well, I put that diary on top of the TV stand when I got there and forgot about it until I saw it again when we were packing up. With four girls and a guest to keep up with, I really didn't have time to do it anyway. It was a very hectic trip. Now if I'd gotten when just my father and I visited in February, I would've had more time as that was a very relaxing trip.

RweTHEREyet & Lexxiefern, as far as giving up the master bedroom, it was sort of a no brainer as far as I was concerned. It kept the girls in that room most of the time instead of under foot in the LR. They weren't very good about picking up after themselves and I didn't want to nag the whole trip. (Except for one day I broke bad and made them clean their room before I'd take them to the parks.) In retrospect, I wish I'd taken the studio as my room and put my friend on the sofa as she never offered to help with any of the cooking/cleaning up and never even thanked me for bringing them. I didn't charge her a dime either. All she had to pay for was thier passes and food. Oh well, live and learn. For details, read the full trip report on the TR board.

Tinkgl, those pillows are the worst aren't they!

Thanks for sharing your experience with your DVC stay. Glad to hear that the room was in good condition.

Happy to hear that your trip went well, and appreciate you taking the time to report back to us about it. :)

Thanks so much for posting. You're very generous to offer 5 people a special Disney vacation!

I assumed the same things were provided in all DVC properties, but it doesn't sound like it. Our OKW rooms have had an ice maker and a pitcher we used for iced tea. Just can't remember about VWL.

Maybe a solution to the Kool-Aid pitcher is to start off by buying a gallon of the stuff that's already mixed at the store (if you are able to do a grocery stop) and just keep reusing it with powdered drink mix as you empty it. I think that's what we'll do with Crystal Light instead of buying a bunch of pop to have to lug around.

We did the diary thing at OKW last week. I was asked to keep track of my spending, amounts, where and if I used a DVC discount. I turned it in before 11 every day, so I received my choice of a character pen--like the ones that sell in the parks for $4. I am supposed to get a gift worth $25 in a few weeks--I'll post what it is when I receive it.

We also had an ice maker and a pitcher in our unit at OKW.

We were at the BC as well from June 8-10th. This was our first trip home and we werevery excited. We were staying at CS for a few days before and went to check in early. No problem with lines, but our room (374) was not ready. We moved over to BC about 12:00 and spent most of the time at the quiet pool and checked on the room every hour or so. Saw many people coming in after us and getting their rooms, so we were quite anxious, as you might imagine. It was finally ready about 2:30. The room was a one bedroom on the third floor, pool view near the parking lot. The room was very clean, but could have used a sprucing up on paint. We noticed some ball pen marks on the couch and the headboard in the master bedroom was supposed to be screwed into the wall, but was pulled away from the wall. The furniture had quite a bit of wear on it, which surprised me given the age of the resort, but nothing to get upset about. All in all, a very good trip, I loved the BC, and look forward to staying again in Oct during the Food and Wine Festival. We had dinner at Cape May's and I have to stay it was the best dining experience I have had at Disney. Food was excellent and priced very reasonably considering Disney's pricing system. Plus the 10% off DVC discount was a nice surprise, as well. I guss the onlything I wish would have been better woud have been the weather!! Too many thunderstorms...but hey, no matter how good Disney is, even they can't control that, can they? :)
