Since there's so much contraversy on the room conditions at BCV right now I've decided to post a room report of my stay in a 2BR lock off with rooms 219/221 from 6/6-6/10. There were 6 of us on this trip including myself with my DGD9, two of her friends 7yo & 11yo, a friend of mine that I asked to join us and her 7yo DGD. This was my first time traveling with a larger group and especially 4 little girls.
We arrived at the BC at around 11am and there was no line at check in. Before I got to the desk, a young man CM approached me about filling in a diary during my stay. I talked to him briefly before I went to the check in desk. I had a friendly CM who welcomed me home right away. Check in went smoothly and our room was ready.
I didn't find anything unkept, in disrepair or dirty about the grounds or interior hallways, community rooms or otherwise.
As I said, we received rooms 219 & 221. It was near the elevator which had been one of my requests. These rooms looked out over the courtyard between BCV and BC and was above the walkway between the two. The view wasn't the best, but not bad and it was too hot that week to hang out on the balcony much anyway. As a matter of fact, I don't think we went out there at all the entire week except for when we first arrived.
We looked the room over and put away our groceries before heading out to the parks. I found everything to be in order with no cleanliness issues. There were a couple places on the table that had the finish missing and a small stain on a sofa cushion. Everything else seemed fine.
I made the master bedroom the girls room as I wanted to keep the mess that I knew would come to one area and I didn't want to watch cartoons all week. I didn't allow them to eat/drink in there as to prevent any accidents. I gave the studio portion to my friend and her DGD, but the DGD ended up sleeping with the rest of the girls in the MB. I took the sleeper sofa in the LR.
The sleeper sofa in the LR that I used was broken I think as when I folded it out it didn't come out evenly. That's the only way I know to describe it. It unfolded easily enough and I was able to use it, but you could tell something was wrong when I unfolded and folded it back up. It wasn't entirely uncomfortable, but not as good as a real bed. I didn't feel a bar or anything at least, I was just missing my bed at home. And I detest the pillows in these DVC units and will try to remember to bring my own from now on.
I cooked several breakfasts and lunches while there and found we had most everything we needed. It would've been nice to have an icemaker in the freezer though. The only thing we really needed and didn't have was a pitcher for tea/Koolaid. I don't have the kitchen inventory memorized so I didn't know if we were supposed to have one or not so I called housekeeping and was told that they're not available. We ended up using the pitcher from the studio's coffee maker for our tea pitcher and just made the Koolaid up as we went. I'll try to remember to bring my own pitcher next time too as I have to have a pitcher of tea a day.
My DGD and I found the trash room and ice machine on our first discovery excursion and I sent her and one of her friends to the trashroom with our trash several times during our stay. The ice machine on that floor was having issues and would only produce small amounts of melty ice. I reported this but it was this way the entire trip. Like I said, I would've liked to have an icemaker in the freezer.
We didn't really have a real trash/towel day. On the second day of our stay housekeeping knocked on the door and I couldn't understand a word this woman said even after asking her to repeat herself two times. I managed to get more towels and coffee from her. We were at the parks on the fourth day when I was expecting our trash/towel day but no one came. This was fine by us as we were taking trash to the trashroom and washing our own towels anyway. But I did leave what trash we had that morning instead of sending DGD to the trashroom because I was expecting trash/towel day. No biggie to take it ourselves.
As far as trash in the hallways, the only thing I saw was trash that was left in the hallway from our neighbors across the hall on one day. It was there in the morning but gone that afternoon. But, we didn't venture down hallways much as our room was the first as you enter the hallway.
SAB was closed due to broken pumps a couple days of our stay but was open in time for our scheduled pool day. This was our first visit to SAB and everyone enjoyed it very much.
I asked my DGD how she liked it and she said "Love it!" I can't wait to bring my new granddaughter to SAB and let her play and splash around in the sandbar shallow area when she's a little older.
Overall we had an excellent experience at BCV and I am so happy that BCV is my home resort. We love the location, SAB, the restaurants, the staff, and everything about it. Feel free to ask any questions.
