I see there are 3 different types of BCV 2 BR Villas. Does the 2 queen beds option simply have 2 queen beds in the studio portion instead of a queen bed and a pullout? And are the 2 BR Villas w/ 2 Queen Beds only in a certain part of BCV or are they scattered thorughout?

Thanks!

The 2-bedroom w/2 queen beds is a dedicated 2-bedroom. There is (currently) also a dedicated with a queen bed and a sleeper sofa in the 2nd bedroom. The dedicated w/queen & sleeper sofa is being changed to 2 queens during the room refurbishment that's currently going on.

The other option is a 2-bedroom lock-off which is a studio & a 1-bedroom with an interior connecting door.

Do note that the dedicated two bedrooms with two queens tend to book fast and are seldom available at the seven month window.

My understanding is that they don't because they won't fit with sufficient clearance for fire codes.
From the Summer 2016 DisneyFiles Magazine:
Disney’s Beach Club Villas: The first wave of accommodations
underwent refurbishment in January, receiving refreshed décor and
fabrics, updated bathrooms, larger televisions, a second queen bed in the
second bedroom of two-bedroom villas (replacing that bedroom’s sleeper
sofa, based on Member feedback)
and more. The addition of a new fifth
sleeper in Deluxe Studios also is part of this project, slated to continue
through the summer.

I wonder how they have managed to do that? Knowing Disney, they probably had the fire codes redone.

Maybe it was just size and not fire codes. Different furniture and now enough room.

I have had the pull out in the second bedroom twice, once was on cash, and the other was a latish booking. I am glad things will change.

Just got back from a dedicated two bedroom and they were super duper nice. I was able to book it at 7 months by getting on the waitlist.

I am too, its an awesome change. I'm just wondering how they did it.

I guess the bus driver who supplied that information was having an "off" day.

A queen mattress can't be any bigger than a full size sleeper sofa. It was likely to provide alternate options, but they found out that most people preferred the two queens. I would imagine that a queen bed is a little bit cheaper than a full size sleeper sofa, and it's also one less booking category to have to worry about or keep checking. AND, it'll make it easier to fill in missing days, so that too is a good thing for us all.

A queen sized mattress will be six inches wider than the full sized sofa bed mattress when the bed is pulled out. Unless there is an extra six inches of hardware per side for the sofa bed sticking out, but I've never seen anything stick out beyond the mattress.

DVC was actually quite clear that they "couldn't" put two queen beds in some BCV rooms - BCV owners started complaining about this back in 2003 and the responses to those complaints weren't coming from bus drivers.

I am thrilled the added the second queen to the other two bedroom dedicated villas.

6 inches is not a lot, and that can be "found" in all sorts of ways. Perhaps they're using a narrower end table in between, or perhaps the regular queen bed is nudged over the other way a bit more.

"Can't" is not a word in their vocabulary if they think it's something guests want and are willing to spend money on. They will find a way. I've never read any sort of official statement saying that it was not possible. I figured it was just a design issue. I can see circumstances where the sofa would be preferable; they're just far less common than people wanting the two beds. DVD tried it, people didn't like it, so they went back to the double queens on the very next DVC property and are now switching BCV to match the rest during a hard goods rehab. Makes sense to me.
