Don't be surprised if you do request a certain room number and not get it. You have to keep your requests general if you want to have a chance of getting anything from a resort that is always high capacity.
Select your smoking preference and one other request, tops, to have a good chance at getting what you want. If you have a list of 4,5, 8 requests, the room assignor will not have a prayer of meeting those. Keep in mind that someone has to be checking out of the room category you are checking in to.
So you need to decide, what's important to you?
Close to bus stop
Close to parking lot
Close to elevator
Close to Beach Club lobby
Quiet area
Ground floor
Upper floor
Pool View
Courtyard view
Note that they will not take a request for an Epcot view and that that side of the resort does face the service road which several people have commented about regarding the noise.
So pick what's most important and request that. Also evaluate for yourself...how much time are you REALLY going to spend in your room, and even more importantly on the patio/balcony? If you are totally spending time in the room, then maybe a good view is a high priority. If you are doing commando touring from dawn to midnight, the chances of you using a patio/balcony will not be as high. You might be better off requesting a room that doesn't require a lot of walking, if you know what I mean.
Sorry this got kinda long...to sum up...don't sweat the small stuff, which is what room requests really are in the grand scheme of things. Pick the important one and don't worry about it.
