We are going on a 9 day vacation in Jan. We will be there for the BCS Championship (Ohio State :cool1: vs. Florida :rotfl2: ) game on Mon, Jan 8th. I know that there are no ADR for the ESPN Club but were hoping if we get there an hour b/f we could get a table by kickoff. I was wondering if anyone has been there for major sporting events and what the crowds were like. Are there a lot of locals that come to the ESPN Club? How is All Star Cafe at the Wide World of Sports as an alternative?

Sorry, can't answer your question. But I can say........

GO BUCKS

Not sure of the BCS game, but have been at ASSp twice during the Super Bowl. They had a very large television in the food court seating area with a party-like atmosphere going on.

The ESPN Club will be mobbed. As in MOBBED! I think your hour before kickoff is hopefull. You might, just might, be able to be seated in the bar side. All Stars Cafe would be a good backup plan. And for Plan C - watch it in your hotel room.

Just back from Boardwalk - one hour before for the big game? MAYBE you would get a seat in the bar area, doubtful. I'd try two hours. They will let you stay at your table for the duration, so just go early and enjoy the food - the hot wings, nachos and burgers are great!!!! :thumbsup2

We were there last fall for the UF-UGA game and there were other college games going on. It was already packed. I don't think an hour is enough time for the national championship.

Go Gators!!!!!!!

Agreed, one hour won't be enough, possibly 2-3 hours might work.

I know you want to watch this game but you really don't have to... My suggestion to you go to the parks have a good time during the title game because im pretty sure your Buckeyes will win... :thumbsup2

Enjoy Disney and enjoy the BCS title game. Just be thankful you didn't have to play the boys in blue again! :cool1:

Hopefully the Buckeyes will crush Florida and Michigan will beat USC in the Rose. Maybe that will prove to the masses that OSU and Michigan were the two best teams in the country this year.

A possible alternative no one ever seems to mention: the bar in Port Orleans French Corner has a large TV, and I am sure they will have the big game on.

We watched the Super Bowl one year in the PO
lounge and it was great fun. Not so crowded.

We were there last Saturday for the Conference championship games and it was packed!!!! We had asked earlier in the week, and again earlier that day, if they would be showing the Big 12 game on the big screens with sound and what time we should get there. We were told yes, and to arrive an hour ahead of time. Well, fortunately we got there two hours ahead, because there was a line almost clear across the Boardwalk to get in. My husband stalked a family finishing dinner in a booth in the bar, and when they left we shared the booth with another family from Oklahoma that he met while they were stalking another table! Turns out the SEC championship started at 6, and the place was filled with Florida fans. I'm sure for the BCS game it will be much, much more crowded.

As a side note, we didn't stay the whole time, because even after the SEC game was over, they refused to put the Big 12 game on the big screen with sound. They were showing Rutgers/West Va. instead. It made us kind of mad since we asked several times and were told over and over that they WOULD show the Big 12 game with sound after the SEC game was over. I guess the Big 12 gets no love in that part of the country! :confused3

GO BUCKEYES!!!

We watched the Alamo Bowl in 2004 at the All Star Cafe at Wide World of Sports because we didn't want to fight the crowd at ESPN Club. BIG MISTAKE! It was one of the worst meals I ever ate in my life at ANY restaurant. The game started at 8 but the Cafe closed at 9:30. We left at half time and watched the rest on a tiny TV at the Hippy Dippy Pool at PC!

I'd say show up to ESPN Club EARLY and stake out a seat. Heck, even here locally (two hours north of Columbus) my mom and I went to the local bar at 11am on OSU/Michigan game day to stake out our seats!

Have a fantastic time and cheer on the Buckeyes down there in Gator Country - we'll just be missing you as our trip is 12/23-1/1.

Most likely you will need to get there about 3 hours early. I'd suggest watching it in your room or driving off property about 10 miles and maybe an hour will suffice.

I watched a couple football games at the All Star Cafe and really enjoyed it. There are plenty of TVs, good food, and a fun atmosphere. The crowd is definitely much smaller than ESPN and an hour should give you enough time to be seated. The other nice thing that came about from watching the games there is I met some CMs that are fellow Colts fans. The All Star Cafe is the only place CMs get a discount on alcohol so there are lots of them there. We emailed each other several times and she was nice enough to offer us her discount for our trip next year! 40% off hotel and FL resident rates on our tickets. We saved over $600 total, and all thanks to avoiding ESPN!

Everyone knows that

MICHIGAN should really be the one in the title game. It would be a better matched game and the most watched beating the Superbowl ratings.

How ironic that Florida makes it in by .10 of a point. can you say fixed? I never ever seen a team get leap frogged twice in two weeks. One conf. should never end weeks later than another. The voters only seem to remember the games just played than the games played weeks ago.

All I can say is I hope OSU makes it a no contest and Michigan kills USC.

And again it will be said for another year that the BCS needs to go.
