BC/YC renovations scheduled?

I don't know if anyone knows the answer, but I was thinking of a late August stay at the YC and I was wondering if there would be any renovations going on.

The reason I ask if because I have had two experiences with renovations going on at the BC. Back in 1999 we were put in a room where they were hammering and painting right outside our door (complete with plastic sheeting covering the hall carpet outside our room). We were moved without any problems (well maybe a little "attitude" but no big deal) and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. Then in 2003 (I think) we stayed at the Dolphin but when we walked past SAB they were doing some outside work on the BC complete with scaffolding and very very loud JACKHAMMERING that to me was way too loud for those trying to relax at SAB never mind anyone trying to nap in their rooms!

So if I talk my DH into staying there and there is major work going on I know I would not hear the end of it!

Anyone have any info or care to hazard a guess? The minor thing like the hall rehab is not a big deal since I would think we could move to another part of the resort, but that jackhammering was really too much.

I was at the YC over Memorial Day weekend. Both the lighthouse (not close to rooms, where you pick up the bus) and the end of the hotel nearest the swan and dolphin had scaffolding (swathed in a tulle like fabric) around them. Unfortunately that's about all I know.

Thanks! I was doing a search and I see that there was some scaffolding up over Christmas and there were rehabbing SAB at that time too. I assume that all of SAB was open right?

I know they need to work on the resorts to keep everything fresh and new looking but when you pay so much $$$$ you really hate it to look and SOUND like you're staying in the middle of a construction site!

Thanks so much for the update! Anyone else?

Hi,
Sorry, no answers here, just another DISer wondering the same thing. We'll be there end of July. Those two resorts seem to be renovating all the time. I know it's a good thing, but once in awhile I'd like to go and not encounter it. We're frequent guests at YC/BC and 9 times out of 10 we hit it under construction. Thanks all.

Hi Kate,
I was thinking the same thing! I have only stayed at the BC once but we have stayed at the Swan/Dolphin many times and walked past the YC/BC or eaten there and it seems to me too that there is always some kind of visible work being done there. I thought it was just my impression, but maybe others think the same!

I wonder if it is due to the size of the resort or just that it is very popular and gets more "use" than other resorts. Oh well, as long as the work done is on the quiet side I won't mind. But if there was scaffolding up over the winter and there is only some left toward the end of the resort then I would think it should be "safe" for over the summer. But I would sure love to hear from anyone with more info!

Just to follow up, Princess, yes ALL of Storm Along Bay was open and not affected by any construction whatsoever. In fact, I think that was one of my DD's favorite parts of our trip. :sunny:

Boy these boards sure do move quickly - this didn't seem like I posted that long ago, LOL

I am going to say that they should just about be done with the rooms, I just stayed at the BC and it was a new room

just curious...when do you think a good time to refurbish is? and please don't say 'anytime except when i'm going!' LOL. it's going to affect someone's vacation at some point, but i'm sure there are times where that impact is less prominent. what do you suggest?
