BC worth the upgrade?

Forgive me in advance-- I know a million variations of this thread have been posted before, but I need advice.

My mom and I are longtime annual visitors, and for the past decade+, we have been dividing our time among the Moderate Resorts. LOVE POFQ, LOVED Dixie Landings (Riverside at present is still nice), HATED Caribbean Beach.

For years we've talked about staying at an Epcot resort, as that is our favorite park and we would love to be able to walk to some of the parks.

We're finally planning our December 2012 trip and trying to decide where to stay. Do we play it safe with Riverside (POFQ unfortunately is not on the fall room only discount) or splurge at BC?

We're very budget conscious, but I'm starting my first real-world job and we feel like celebrating.

Opinions on whether the upgrade to BC is worth it?

Thanks!

Go for it! We have stayed at both and if you can afford BC you will not regret the upgrade. The walks / boating to EPCOT and HS is nice but that first stroll around the BW in the evening after the parks close will "seal the deal". You will also have access to the SAB pool which is a real plus when not at the parks. There are also some very nice dining opportunities in that area.

Good luck!

It is the best! You will love the resort, and especially the location of being a short walk from WS/Epcot, Boardwalk, and the boat ride to HS.

World Showcase is a big deal, especially. for us because of the wonderful restaurants and shows. I'd stay at BC, or any Epcot resort, any time I could.

Have a great time!!

:goodvibes

I think it's worth it. Would you consider a split stay? :confused3
... it'll save some money
We love split stays because it gives us a chance to try new resorts and it's fun. Split stays can also save enough $$ to allow you to do CL at the deluxe. :goodvibes

We just stayed BC for the first time in August. We typically stay value, but have stayed mod as well as Contemporary.
Yes...loved the view and the location. We walked to both Epcot and DHS (boated it too). However, once home we decided its not worth the money to us. I'd say do it once, when you can and then you will know. Everyone is different.
We decided to splurge this last trip because I had thought my kids would want to use the pool a lot. To my surprise we would be there for an hour and they wanted to go to a park. So... We just were not at the hotel enough for me to say it was worth the cost.
I am currently trying to plan our next trip and so far the majority is wanting POR or POP. No one even mentioned BC. I feel like we are odd balls. LOL.

In my opinion, the BC is ALWAYS worth the upgrade :) Unless you are doing a quick weekend trip that is all park and no resort. During the holidays, you can't beat the Epcot resort area - all of the resorts have great displays, and you are in walking distance to the Osborne Lights and World Showcase!

Follow me to the BC/YC thread where all of your questions, even the ones you didn't know you had, will be answered by the wonderful information and people on this thread!

I'm going to have to warn you though... this thread is addicting. The people on it are so nice and very helpful. Be sure to read all of page one and then ask away about any questions or concerns you may have about this location.

You're gonna LOVE it!

YES. The upgrade is worth it. And listen to previous poster Ninja Mom- she rocks! (And is a super-helpful poster :thumbsup2)...

Always stayed moderate, but once we experienced BC, there was no looking back. You can not beat being able to walk into the back door of EPCOT in less than five minutes. The pool and CMs are awesome!

We love the Epcot resorts. You definitely won't be disappointed with the BC. We just stayed there again in Aug. and will be returning in Jan. Can't compare to any of the moderates since we are deluxe only. The resort and the easy access to two parks and all the restaurants can't be beat. You will love it there.

We loved BC but we loved YC even more so you might want to consider that if it is available. YC was more tranquil and laid back but still shared all the amenties with BC. Even my 10 year old liked YC better because she said it was more fancy and not as loud as BC. Plus walking in to 2 resorts is fabulous. Next year we're trying CR because my DD loved the idea of being able to walk in to MK and not take the dreaded buses.

Thanks for all of the replies!

I think we might take the plunge. This might be our only opportunity to try BC, and since we've been talking about it for over 5 years, it might be time to actually do it.

Plus we'll be there over the holidays-- I almost forgot about the easy access to Osborne and the Candlelight Processional. That may be the selling point!

Yep. Therein lies the rub!

Yes - I absolutely feel that it is worth it. At this point, you owe it to yourself to try it out. This whole area is the very best, and especially if Epcot is your favorite park. If BC is not available, try YC, or The Boardwalk. This area is truly special. I was always a huge fan of the ol' Dixie Landings. I stayed there twice as Dixie Landings, and twice as Port Orleans Riverside.
THEN ...... I discovered the Epcot resorts area, and I have not been back to moderate. You will love that Epcot is just outside of your "Back Yard"
Go For It !

I love BC so I say go for it!! If you can't stomach the price then I'd consider the Wilderness Lodge..beautiful in December :) Not quite as $$ as BC but it's also not by Epcot

If you have kids then BC is a very good choice. If not, I would choose the YC, its quiet, beautiful & within walking distance of Epcot. Yes it is worth it! :)
