What are the advantages/disadvantages here? Both get to use SAB right? What sorts of differences are there? I'm not all that fussed about the theming becuase I'm sure that'll be great no matter what...but what I'm thinking about is restaurants, busses, distance in walking to the parks, boats, marinas and generally all-round kid friendliness.

Any opinions?? :)

Thanks a million! :hippie:

Hi,

It's really just the theming. The two resorts are connected, so there is very easy access from one to the other. It's a little bit shorter walk to Epcot from the BC.

They share the same amenities (like SAB) and the rooms are approx the same size. Some of the differences are as follows:

- BC is a few hundred yards closer to Epcot IG, while YC is closer to the DHS boat dock (in the big picture of all the walking one does at WDW, this is a nominal difference)
- Virtually all YC rooms have full balconies, while only some BC rooms do
- YC generally has a quieter lobby, since there is no character brekafast there (like there is in the BC lobby)
- Many think BC is kid-friendlier and that YC is somewhat stuffy, but it is WDW, so kids are more than welcome at both.
- YC is closer to the restaurants at YC (Yachtsman Steakhouse and the Galley), while BC is closer to the restaurants at BC (Cape May, Beaches & Cream and the quick service in the BC Marketplace), but it is, again, a very short walk from one hotel to the other
- Morning buses to MK usually stop at YC, then BC, so if it is a very busy time, the bus may fill up at YC, such that BC guests must wait for the next bus

Wow talk about your quick replies!!!

Thanks so much! That confirms pretty much what I was able to glean from other places.

I think we're going to go BC!

Would still love to hear other stories about what makes either one so great. I am so stoked about this! We're going to do 5 nights at POP and 3 at BC. i figure by then the kids will be ready to do some pool time and we'll get the benefit of it. Plus an easy walk over to eat dinner in Epcot! Perfectomundo!

Great choice! I stayed at the BC many years ago when I was a teenager, during Christmas time no less, and it was beautiful. Someday I would like to try the Yacht Club, just for something different.

You're really going to enjoy the BC. Have a great trip!

YC is so nice and quiet, we were there for 4 days and no one else was at the quiet pool with us

The BC was a madhouse, super loud, crawling with people, very chaotic.

HA! That sounds like my house right now! We'll feel right at home I suppose... ;) Though quiet might be nice as well.

How many quiet pools are there? I haven't come across that.

BTW, I  LOOOOOVE  Naples!

Thanks,

Beth :)

Each of the resorts has their own quiet pool. The YC pool generally is quieter and less crowded than the BC quiet pool. I think this is due to the fact that the YC quiet pool is a bit more secluded than the BC quiet pool. A lot of people tend to "sneak" into the BC quiet pool area to gain access into the BC lobby.

If you want a more laid back atmosphere, the YC is the better place. You will run into more conventioneers at the YC because of the convention center, but BC is a bit more on the raucous side.

I think YC and BC each have their own quiet pool but BC is right out on the walkway to Epcot and it never looked quiet to me

This is an understatement, if I have ever heard one. The BC quiet pool is right off the walkway to Epcot. Anyone using that walkway can't miss the BC quiet pool. The YC quiet pool, on the other hand, is tucked behind the resort, well off any path or walkway used for other purposes. Thus, unless your room is in that area or you are going to do laundry, one would not tend to inadvertently stumble on the YC quiet pool. I would venture to guess that many guests stay at the YC without ever knowing that the quiet pool is there.

Thanks again for all the help.

So if we stay at YC, how far is the walk really to go to Cape May? it sounds like it might be a better choice in terms of having the option to have a bit of quiet... We've stayed in Coronado Springs before and we mostly only were at the quiet pool since it was awesome and ds4 loved it...it was a bit of a walk to get down to the Pepper Market - would it be longer than that to walk between the two hotels?

I love the idea of being able to walk to Epcot to eat dinner after an afternoon at the pool! Yorkshire Fish and Chips, here we come! Make mine a pint! :yay:
